History - Gwynneth Rixon Ceramics

The grammar school I went to got a kiln and a stand up and nod kick wheel when I was 13. No looking back! When I was 16, I was out on my bike in Tisbury, Wiltshire, and came across a watermill where Oldřich Ašenbryl. And a slipware potter were working. I didn't meet them, just looked at the shop. Inspired for life. I completed a Foundation Course and studied Ceramics at Cardiff College of Art during the 1970s. I worked as a thrower for John Hughes (the Groggs. Committee and Wales' Craft Forum. I then wor...

http://www.thebarefootcrofter.com/p/links-i-find-useful-andor-beautiful.html
About The Barefoot Crofter. I knew at the beginning of the year that I wanted to let go of the blog. I am in a different place now and I need the space to work through a great many things. I intend to keep the archives up for a time, although I have removed the comment function. If you have landed here - welcome and feel free to dip in to what was our life - once upon a time. Below I have listed, in no particular order, links that I find useful, interesting or beautiful. Callanish Bike and Kayak Hire.

the Victorian Shaving Soap Project: January 2012
http://victoriansoapproject.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
The Victorian Shaving Soap Project. Friday, 27 January 2012. Making Soap from Woodash Lye. Lye made from wood ashes would not therefore have been a regular part of the commercial repertoire, but it is known to still be a common method of producing soap in less urban areas, with examples from American homesteading families being fairly well documented right into living memory. Saturday, 21 January 2012. Shaving Mugs and Bowls. Researching what goes into shaving soap is one thing, but it would be remiss of...

Rant whilst waiting.now getting on with life. Sunday, 26 July 2015. The old house is spotless, the sheds empty and garden nearly done. Now it is raining! Weather permitting, the moved Shed should go up tomorrow. And perhaps if we get enough work we'll be able to afford to stay in the new place next year when the rent raise comes in. Not that the Pirate had planned to be still mowing and digging other peoples' gardens at 76 and counting. We'd rather be doing our own! Friday, 24 July 2015. Tomorrow afternoo...

http://gzandco.blogspot.com/2015/07/moving-problems.html
Rant whilst waiting.now getting on with life. Sunday, 19 July 2015. We eventually saw inside our new address on Saturday evening.it is a nice little cottage and has been completely re-decorated.more than was needed. Unfortunately all the dog kennels were still in the garden and.oh,the rent is so low because of that and of course it will go up once they are out. The rent, as we have told them, was our limit.and they had been promising verbally to remove the dogs before we moved in. 19 July 2015 at 21:32.

http://gzandco.blogspot.com/2015/07/walk-in-rain.html
Rant whilst waiting.now getting on with life. Tuesday, 7 July 2015. Walk in the rain. Yesterday we decided that it was too wet for a ride on our bikes.so we had a walk in the rain instead! Up a side valley from Talybont where daughter and family live. And back following an old track/footpath. Heading back towards the village. Or so we thought.this is looking back.the path should come from the left, on the far side of the gate, through where the wall has been built. Photographer at work.(daughter). Potter,...

May 14, 2016. I often wish my dog had hands. Not all the time, just when I want her to, like when I can’t get my rubber boots off…. 8230;or so she could help collect sticks on the way home from the park…. 8230;or when I’m packing the car to go away, and half the stuff is hers. In my imagination…. March 21, 2016. In my imagination, of which I have a lot, I thought I had it planned. Life is not at all like that. Book number three will get done, it is actually looking better than it did, Ms Whelan. I ha...

Gwynneth's Work
Notes on my work on contemporary Spanish dramatist, Juan Mayorga. An attempt to formulate my ideas into some sort of order. Thursday, January 05, 2006. Thank God Christmas is over. Far too much drinking/eating and spending money carried out. Happy new year to any readers and I hope some of you out there like the season a little more than me - although the first week in January must be the most depressing in the world as all contemplate going back to work. Gwynneth Woodhouse Ware a life in letters
Letters to Children, Others. Letters to Becky and Cliff. Letters to Suzanna Ware O'Donnell. Letters to Children, Grandchildren, Others. Letters to Becky and Cliff Woodhouse. Gwynneth Mary Woodhouse Ware was born in 1912 in New York City and died in 1995 in Hogansville, Georgia. Her extraordinary life.
