Dublin Castle Visitor Facilities. Since its foundation in 1204 Dublin Castle has been at the heart of the history and evolution of the city. Today, spanning an area of over 44,000 square meters (11 acres), the site contains 2 museums, 2 cafés, an international conference centre, 2 gardens, Government Buildings and the State Apartments which are the most important state rooms in the country. Dublin Castle is situated in the very heart of Dublin City, on the south side of the River Liffey, off Dame Street, en route from Trinity College to Christchurch Cathedral. Join Lauren Moore for an outdoor sculpture tour of Dublin Castle. This tour will introduce the contemporary public sculptures in Dublin Castle, explaining the events that initiated their creation and the history and mythology that inspired their design. It will also explore how the sculptures work both individually and together to create a captivating landscape. Meet at the main yard of Dublin Castle, in front of the entrance to the Bedford Tower (building with clock tower) on Wednesday 12th August at 6pm.

Museum Standards Programme for Ireland (MSPI). Dublin Castle is among seven of Ireland’s museums which were recognised for high standards of management, care of collections and visitor services, by the Heritage Council. Under its Museum Standards Programme for Ireland (MSPI).
