Healing Haiti Elder Care: A Roof for Clelie

http://healinghaiti-eldercare.blogspot.com/2013/12/a-roof-for-clelie.html

Thursday, December 19, 2013. A Roof for Clelie. Clelie is one of the newest elders to our program and is the grandmother of two of the boys at Grace Village. Her home was severely damaged from a house fire over a year ago, so she has been living with family in an already over crowded home. This is her home, with layers of burnt tin, tarps, logs and concrete block as a roof to try to keep her belongings safe. Done in the right way, financial giving for something such as a roof, can provide the opportunity...

Healing Haiti Elder Care: August 2013

http://healinghaiti-eldercare.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Tuesday, August 27, 2013. All Dough Flies in Haiti. Although the team left yesterday, I've stayed on to concentrate on bread and the wonderful bread oven that we began to use this week at Grace Village. It is hard to find words adequate to describe this experience. Serving here has been like nothing I have ever done. At the end of the day it seems to me that all our work and perhaps our whole life comes down to relationship. Saturday, August 24, 2013. A Day I've Been Dreaming Of. Often when I’m in. To ba...

Monday, February 10, 2014. God is Enough by Steve Duede. I wondered why any one in Haiti would even want to follow God? On the outside looking in, they don’t seem very blessed? The poverty level here is unbelievable. Then it occurred to me that maybe, because they have nothing, God is everything. He’s all they have and all they need. Yes, God is still good and worthy to be praised, regardless of our circumstances! I knew that but now I saw it firsthand. Another lesson learned in Haiti. Where do I start?

Friday, December 6, 2013. Day 5 By Emily and Kalley. So many times in uncertain situations, our first instinct is to think of ourselves. But when we take the time to reach out and offer a word of encouragement or meet a need of another, we see a world beyond ourselves. God uses these moments to stretch us and grow us, and what starts out as a crazy moment turns into a beautiful moment. Thursday, December 5, 2013. Day 4 by Heather Siverhus.
