hearts for Mexico

In 2003 we left for Mexico to learn the language and serve as missionaries in Oaxaca, Mexico. This blog has been a narrative of our experiences and heart thoughts while living in Mexico. Now living in Washington State, our hearts remain invested in the land and the people we learned to love while living in that beautiful country. It is my prayer that the Lord will yet send us back, and while we are here in Washington it is also my desire to serve the Mexican people who live among us.

hearts for Mexico: Life with the Elim Students at Roca Blanca

http://heartsformexico.blogspot.com/2010/02/life-with-elim-students-at-roca-blanca.html

Sunday, February 21, 2010. Life with the Elim Students at Roca Blanca. Nurse Vernessa, daughter-in-law, hermana Carmelita and student Sheila at home visit. Impingement of Sciatic nerve, probably. It started with a precious woman who I had the joy to care for. She was homebound so we were visiting her to make sure she was taking her meds and tracking the healing of a bedsore she had developed. Rather that put her back I moved her to the bed. I thought "I may pay for this later". In Puerto. I took a mi...

It has not always been fun for either of us, but we praise the God who gave us the power, worked the miracles.and gave us the gumption and vision to hang on. It feels like we are living the rewards! At 62 1/2 years he has become one good lookin' guy! Summer Staff Raft Training. Staff was trained in all that they ...

hearts for Mexico: I left my heart in Oaxaca

http://heartsformexico.blogspot.com/2010/08/i-left-my-heart-in-oaxaca.html

Friday, August 13, 2010. I left my heart in Oaxaca. In Mount Vernon WA with our youngest grandson Damien. Well, it has been forever since I posted a blog. In April my email address and all my contacts' addresses were hijacked, lost them never to be regained. Those of you who are reading this will be mostly from my Facebook friends list, some of you will be new to my blog. Because you are on FB you know all about Eddie and Riverclay Studio, well here is the rest of the story. Even now it is unthinkable.

hearts for Mexico: Well deserved pehaps, certainly appreciated time off!

http://heartsformexico.blogspot.com/2010/01/well-deserved-pehaps-certainly.html

Saturday, January 30, 2010. Well deserved pehaps, certainly appreciated time off! How do we let off steam at Roca Blanca? Well, of course there is the beach, I have only gone swimming once so far, it is not like I can just go out and jump in the ocean, although we have a few who do. The waves can be rough and I have a particular respect for places where people have drowned. It is better to drive to Roca Mar down the beach or go to Puerto Escondido. The best part I think was the music. Two guitars and...

hearts for Mexico: December 2008

http://heartsformexico.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 19, 2008. Kelley Christmas at Stonewater Ranch. Christmas in the Northwest. It is bright and sunny and MSN weather says it is 21 degrees. The fir trees are loaded down with dry snow and every few minutes snow falls creating a powdery cloud in the woods. This last Sunday our children and their families joined us at Stonewater Ranch for 3 days to celebrate Christmas early and enjoy the snow. Laura, Marilyn's sister, and our granddaughter Elisabeth enjoying hot chocolate. The next day, we d...

A desire for the lifestyle of. Monday, August 4, 2008. The Grove Team Rocked My Face Off. Well, as the title would suggest, the team of 9 amazing people that came from the Grove week before last was amazing.  They were very flexible, effective in ministry, and I think they were all affected for the better because of their experiences here.  My sub-par internet connection hasn't afforded me the opportunity yet to look at the pictures of others, but I'm sure they're equally as amazing. Jordan was in Nepal.

Saturday, December 20, 2008. Wheeler Family Christmas 2008. This year has flown by with one turning from a tiny baby to a little toddler, a growing girl starting preschool, a husband working hard to provide for his family, two girls growing up fast, a little one who loves her “little mama” role and a wife and mother who is thankful for all of life’s blessings, big and small. Our children are growing up fast. No life is without value. God is present in our lives today. Nothing is more important than family.

Wheeler Family: A day at the park

http://jewelwheeler.blogspot.com/2008/09/day-at-park.html

Thursday, September 4, 2008. A day at the park. This has been a busy week. Ahzryia and Shariah started school on Tuesday. Azzie is in middle school and loves it. I think it was scarier for Bill and me. Shariah started 4th grade and loves her teacher because she lets the class chew gum during reading time. Tonight is Emma's preschool orientation and she'll start on Monday. She's happy to have Shariah's basketball coach as her teacher and her best friend JT will be in her class. Can't wait to have a visit?

Wheeler Family: Our New Years Baby

http://jewelwheeler.blogspot.com/2009/01/our-new-years-baby.html

Friday, January 2, 2009. Our New Years Baby. Three years ago we celebrated New Years while in the hospital waiting for Ruby to be born. After my water broke I didn't go into labor so it was a fun day of pitosin, back rubs and eventually a little nubane. Ruby was born around 8pm New Years day after NO pushes! We bought Ruby a princess dress to match the barbie she got for Christmas. When I asked Ruby what kind of cake she wanted about a month ago she just said "rain". Okay, I just reminded myself to e...

You live in a fifth wheel? (by Linda) | the view from the juniper tree

https://gscandrett.wordpress.com/2007/05/09/you-live-in-a-fifth-wheel-by-linda

The view from the juniper tree. You live in a fifth wheel? May 9, 2007 at 8:38 am. On the morning of April 14. I thought of writing about how I answer the question You live in a fifth wheel? Don’t you miss your house? I was going to write about how God prepared me for moving into a fifth wheel (I call it the Schooner). I didn’t write that morning, can’t remember why, but I’m glad I didn’t, because I can, now, not only write about how God prepared me for this kind of living, but why He prepared me. Traci,...

Hearts For Me

From my heart to yours. Sunday, July 6, 2008. July 6, 2008. Our trip is definitely winding down. Our final days in Shanghai are memorable. Jim, Kimmie and I agree we could live here, IF we spoke the language. It a very modern city, and the Chinese culture is ever present. A yummy bakery is close to our hotel with delectable treats. We wanted some ice cream, but it cost $7 US, and unanimously declined, as it contributed to global warming. How? Next time you hear from me is when I either call you or see.

hearts for Mexico

Tuesday, August 27, 2013. The Lennon Wall in Prague. It has been a very long time since I posted in HeartsforMexico. Still I am afraid I identify myself as a nurse, and more specifically a nurse who longs to return to Mexico. I have recently started a new nursing position that gives me flexibility not only in my hours and days of work, but also in what I do, sometimes admissions, sometimes floor work, sometimes floor supervisor.
