Thursday, November 8, 2012. 30 Days of Thankfulness on the Family Farm-Day 8. Day 8-Sharing the love of the farm. Every year we have a celebration of harvest and a time to fellowship together with all of the guys that help us with harvest and all of their wives and kids. The guys are NEVER all in the same place during the harvest season, as they each have their job and they are going many different directions at all hours of the day and night, tooling away to finish the work. 8221; on a little TV. She is a table-top activity kind of kid. Give her a worksheet or 25 at age 2 and she was doing a happy dance! They are surprisingly easy to make and turn out so, so cute! Here are a few links to get you started. Hey kids, get the heck out there in the field with your flashlights and get us shucks! It’s crafting time! LiveJournal Tags: ...

Saturday, November 10, 2012. 30 Days of Thankfulness on the Family Farm-Day 10. Day 10-Rain, it's a love/hate relationship. Today we are nearing the end of harvest. Seriously, after this, things get a little more normal around here. After they get the corn and beans out of the field, there is still work to be done to officially be done with harvest. I do this big countdown of harvest, and I really ought to change my ways because I count down until the last soybean is in the hopper and then I celebrate!

Friday, November 9, 2012. 30 Days of Thankfulness on the Family Farm-Day 9. Day 9- The Best of Both Worlds. This is a photo of my dad and my husband taken this fall. I'm not sure there is another photo in existence with just the two of them in it. They represent the two sides of my world. Now he is retired and I haven't seen him in a suit in years come to think of it! He was always home for supper and often fixed it for my sister and I. He was King of the Crock pot! Fast forward to after college when I m...

Friday, November 2, 2012. 30 Days of Thankfulness on the Family Farm-Day 2. 8220;Yea, the LORD shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.”. As we are coming out of the harvest season here on our farm and I’m am sharing what I am thankful for, I just have to point out the obvious. I’m thankful for our abundant harvest. Year and year after year, farmers all over this world plant one little corn kernel that magically turns into 650-750 kernels. Let’s multiply for fun:. 30 Days of ...

Tuesday, November 6, 2012. 30 Days of Thankfulness on the Family Farm-Day 6. I technically still have two hours to meet my goal of blogging every day. Yes, first thing in the morning would be best, but I’m full of good intentions and my days are full of a job and my nights are full of ball games and ninjitsu lessons and music lessons and laundry. Let’s not forget the laundry. So forgive me that I’m posting in the evening. Those are my blondie boys in the middle. Want to start at the beginning? 30 Days of...

Monday, November 5, 2012. Days of Thankfulness on the Family Farm-Day 5. I had, on numerous occasions seen my hubs and his dad, laid out on the gravel under equipment. I had seen them washing equipment in all sorts of weather. I had seen them in the snow and cold have to do all kind of things that made me glad NOT TO BE A FARMER! Mostly because I hate the cold! The guys however, never seemed to mind or complain. This shop is a game changer you could say. Now let’s get to the. See that boy in the middle, ...
