Hickory Island and the Hodges Family. An important pioneer of Levy County. Was Dr. Andrew Elton Hodges. By the fall of 1855 he was in Guadalupe County near the town Seguin (just east of San Antonio), for it was here that his temper (he had red hair and a temper to go with it) would get him into trouble, something that he would experience again in Levy County. 160; The Sheriff arrested Hodges for assault with intent to kill! Doctor Hodges, after scouting the surrounding area, is said to have settled in.
