Two additional types of wine producing grapes are currently scheduled for planting in the Phase 3 section of the vineyard, Tempranillo and Nebbiolo. High Lonesome Vineyard consists of approximately 36 acres of rich sandy loam in a fertile valley surrounded on the south and west by the Mule and Whetstone Mountains, on the north by the Dragoon Mountains and on the east by the Swisshelm and Chiricahua Mountains. Charles and Karen Hofmann. December 29th, 2014. Above is a picture of the Sand Hill Cranes arriving near the McNeal Arizona Refuse for the winter back from Siberia. We understand last winter there were about 20,000 that wintered here. We actually have a good view of this Reserve from our patio area at 9399 N High Lonesome Road where the Vineyard is located. The sky and the fields were graced by many of these birds, so maybe this year we will find even more at the Reserve. October 15th, 2013.
