Our learning journey on and off the farm. Tuesday, November 24, 2009. What they chose to do today. Jesse started a screenplay that is already five pages, printed out and cast, ready for its first day of shooting tomorrow with Eli, Alexander and Gillen. There will be more actors added on Friday. Right now, props and masks are being created. In his spare time he cracked many pecans from the farm for the pie. We're all still cracking now, while watching SYTYCD and we are only half way there. Magazine came t...

Barn-Raising: December 2009
http://barn-raising.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Our learning journey on and off the farm. Thursday, December 17, 2009. In the midst of the usual sibling wrestling and screaming, there was this - an inspired moment of giving. Gillen got up before Jesse did and decided to make him breakfast and bring it to him in his room. For a moment, Jesse said, he thought it must be Christmas. Labels: Gillen and Jesse. Barn-Raising: Learning something new
http://barn-raising.blogspot.com/2010/02/learning-something-new.html
Our learning journey on and off the farm. Friday, February 12, 2010. In addition, waiting for Gillen to come out of his guitar class one day, I bought a keyboard. I've been reteaching myself piano (it's been thirty years). Crazy, eh? Of course, when you are surrounded by kids who have the freedom to follow every new passion and whim where it may lead, you tend to want to follow suit. Especially when they are old enough that there is room in the day to do so. Labels: learning about learning. I learn every...

Barn-Raising: November 2010
http://barn-raising.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Our learning journey on and off the farm. Friday, November 05, 2010. Giving up control over my kids' food choices was a long, hard road. Floating, taunting GMO, pesticide, dye and corn syrup monsters. Would swirl around my head, laughing at my inability to protect my kids, every time they ate anything that wasn't organic or was too processed. I didn't always. I'm glad to have let go of the protective health fanatic persona that used to try to run the show. Now, food is a dance between following our s...

Barn-Raising: August 2009
http://barn-raising.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Our learning journey on and off the farm. Saturday, August 22, 2009. Because of these guys:. I didn't have to make dinner last night. Gillen decided to make us omelettes, to order. Because of the kind of guy he is, he added a centerpiece of strawberries and grapes and the really. I didn't have to wash the car before our trip tomorrow. They decided to do it, after playing baseball all day. And how cool they are, I am getting to speak at a conference in Mass. next week. I have redefined peace. Today The re...

http://mdfarm.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 04, 2008. 5 Tons of Hay. We got 10 round bales of hay delivered this past weekend. Probably more than we need for the winter but this way we will not have to try to find some when it is least available. The kids had fun jumping from bale to bale until we got them all put up on pallets under tarps. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). 5 Tons of Hay. Touch the Earth Farm.

Thursday, November 17, 2011. Gray discovered the camera a few weeks ago and has been unstoppable since. He loves having me take pictures of the two of us together. You see that hair of mine? Back to Gray. Last night his series of photos was especially cute. I present: "What Gray Cares About.". That last one may be one of my favorite Zan pictures.
