Why Be Anglican: September 2006
http://whybeanglican.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 23, 2006. Snakes on a Plain. From Mount Hor they set out by the way to the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom. And the people became impatient on the way. And the people spoke against God and against Moses, "Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? What a golden example of what salvation is. How amazing that Jesus pointed it out so early in his ministry. Posted by Pete at 2:59 PM. Friday, September 15, 2006. Try these on for size. Posted by Pete at 5:22 PM.

Why Be Anglican: October 2006
http://whybeanglican.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 26, 2006. Tired of the Debate. Women's Ordination to the Presbyterate has been repudiated again. This time, many more people than in the past voted not to even have a debate. Calls for the inevitability of the measure are very much premature, as the first cultural change picture appears to be growing in strength. Sydney has a good situation, with many men and women working to serve Jesus with their lives (and many doing it in a full-time paid capacity too). What a wonderful thing that is.

Why Be Anglican: February 2007
http://whybeanglican.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 16, 2007. Primates spotted in Tanzania. The heads of each Province of the Anglican Church (known as primates) are currently meeting together in Tanzania. While a few procedural issues will dominate the play for the first few days, it will be interesting to see the events play out. The nuts and bolts of the decisions will not come out straight away, but we need to keep praying. Pray that things are better this time. Posted by Pete at 9:21 PM. Sunday, February 04, 2007. Why Be Anglican: December 2006
http://whybeanglican.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 24, 2006. A lesson in what happens when you ignore bits of the text. Hugh Mackay in todays Sydney Sun-Herald. What seems strange is the freedom he uses certain phrases and descriptions of the incarnation of Jesus (and distorts them), to Christianise what are essentially pagan ideas. Power of God rests with the wisdom of humanity. The genius of Christianity is the revelation that "the Word was made flesh"; that the "guy in the sky" was dead. The Christian God exists within us, and now...

Why Be Anglican: August 2006

Wednesday, August 30, 2006. Why I chose not to stay in politics. A very nice older lady in my church's 9:30 congregation and I were having a chat about work. Since I haven't started yet, I was left to discuss some longer term aspirations to save money, allowing me to head towards full-time Ministry. Here is a summary of a few reasons why I still think I am making the right decision. The Nature of the work. A politician has his time freed up to convince people to support him and his party. The minister of...

Why Be Anglican: June 2006
http://whybeanglican.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, June 28, 2006. The Archbishop of Canterbury. Why be Anglican according to Rowan Williams. Posted by Pete at 10:17 AM. Sunday, June 25, 2006. Churches of believers can get stale very easily. This is one thing I have noticed especially in Hornsby, but also in other places too. Yes, we need to meet up with one another, and to spur each other on to love and good deeds, but we also need the occasional rejuvination to keep going when things get hard. I am excited, I get to change roles next week....

Why Be Anglican: January 2007

Tuesday, January 23, 2007. A question of Timing. I am currently preparing a study on 1 Corinthians 4. A bit that has always intrigued me is as follows:. Already you have all you want! Already you have become rich! Without us you have become kings! And would that you did reign, so that we might share the rule with you! For I think that God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, like men sentenced to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels, and to men. Unfortunately, as a Chris...

Why Be Anglican: November 2006
http://whybeanglican.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html
Friday, November 17, 2006. Time to move on. Time keeps marching on, as does responsibility. The unknown beckons, but one thing stays constant. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. (Philippians 1:22). God has fruitful work for me to do, I just need to trust him as it happens. Posted by Pete at 11:15 PM. Tuesday, November 14, 2006. I'm not an eye. If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? As it is, there are many parts, yet one body. Now you are the body o...

Why Be Anglican: July 2006
http://whybeanglican.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 25, 2006. Ministry Involvement and Boy-Girl Relations. I don't know if anyone reads this anyway, but here goes some thoughts I have had lately. I don't want at this stage to dwell on them deeply, but they probably need to be said. 1 Boy-Girl Relationships are hard work. The apostle Paul even says so in 1 Corinthians 7:32-34. 2 Ministry is purposeful hard work. 3 Boys are often task focussed. 4A There is not always a simple fix to this problem. The Lack of "real" commitment in dating relatio...
