I've loved reading my friend Liz. Blog about her canning and pickling adventures this summer, so I thought I'd share my first canning experience. I tried strawberry freezer jam this summer and it worked! I got the recipe from a co-worker. She's a true TN grandma so I figured her jam was probably fantastic - and it was! Not a Piece of Cake. I recently completed the Wilton Method Level One (Cake Basics) class at my local Michael's. A few of my girlfriends from church convinced me to take it with them. It was fun - I often referred to my class sessions as "finger painting for adults" or "playing with my food" - but it was definitely a lot of work. I'm not. I did have to plan ahead enough to borrow the necessary cake pans from a friend! Like the cake says and the weather lately has proven: "Welcome, Spring!

Recently in a meeting someone I respect mentioned offhand that they think that discontentment is not always a bad thing - that sometimes God uses "divine discontent" to move us into another direction. The comment was not directed to me, but it really gave a name to some of the things I'm really struggling with lately. Contentment. Calling. Exhaustion. Mission. I can't believe how quickly this week has flown by - another Thursday? But I am grateful for this week, even if it did slip away from me too quickly. Working full time in a confused and overwhelmed office where everyone is new at their jobs. Physically aching because that's just what my body does under stress. Learning new people, new structure, totally new job (Financial Aid for a liberal arts major? New expectations/necessity of working super long days (also see point above). Not having time to cook. Going to school full time (class on weekends, reading/writing papers on weeknights) with some doubt about whether it's worth it. I'm happy with my life.

Sorry for the long blog absence. I won't really promise to catch you up on what's been going on in our lives, because overall it's been more of the same: marriage, work, pharmacy school, church, friends, and, of course, the occasional "what is my purpose? So that I will remember. It's been a hard year and we are facing some uncertainties ahead. That's not a bad thing - it is a blessing for God to remind me that I am not in control! It's actually kind of exciting - on days that I don't feel incredibly tired from the past few months, I am thrilled at the unknown, at the chance to start a new chapter together. On the tired days, it is a little overwhelming. Sanctus Real "The Redeemer". Sometimes I just wanna start over. Cause everything looks like a wreck.
