Tri's and Tribulations: May 2012
http://trainingmo.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 31, 2012. And the build to Leadville starts. This spring slipped away on tip toes in the night, quietly and quickly. I'm not sure if I'm behind in Leadville training or not. I'm sure I should be doing more climbing. I'm sure I should be doing more speed. I probably should be doing more distance. I guess I think I should be doing more, period. Could this include battery changes in the lights? Things to include in the ramp up:. 5 night runs, with my new fenix lights - for comfort. Really ther...

Tri's and Tribulations: July 2015
http://trainingmo.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 29, 2015. At Long Last - requited love and pain at the Hardrock 100 - 2015. Sometimes driving now, I turn my radio off, and it feels like I am still in the San Juan mountains. Little Molas Lake environs. One of my favorite feelings during hundred mile races is to get to the 70-80-90 mile mark and realize that “Geez, I’ve been going for X hours, here it is MILE 90 and I AM STILL RUNNING! Hardrock Sister, Susan. Husband/Crew Chief /HRH veteran keeping me calm and happy. And then we were.

Tri's and Tribulations: July 2012
http://trainingmo.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 31, 2012. The best thing to do after running an easy and enjoyable and faster than expected trail marathon, is to go to another country and run another one the next weekend. I have friends that do this all the time. Baaaaah! This was my hypothesis, so it was necessary to test it out. And what better race to target than a race that is considered the hardest marathon around, and that calls it's finishers "survivors" - the Maraton Alpino Madrileño just north of Madrid Spain. Again I had no exp...

Tri's and Tribulations: June 2012
http://trainingmo.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 11, 2012. This was my 6th Run the Caldera. And I just keep coming back. Getting to do a catered run through the caldera satisfies that urge in me to get OUT; to get away from people. Sure, there were some 80 other runners, but after mile 3, we all spread out. I didn't review the times from previous years. I didn't plan how fast to try to get up the first hill. I told everyone it was a long training day, that I was taking it easy. And I still feel like I have lots left in the tank. Even b...

Tri's and Tribulations: January 2012
http://trainingmo.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 12, 2012. What happened to the rest of 2011? But the running was still good. Better than ever, actually. Not just faster - oh, yes, I did manage to get faster - but better too. The running has been all mine again, a great outlet for joy and frustration. I PR'd my 2.5 mile handicap by a minute. I ran Run Rabbit Run 50 miler (on short notice with little specific training) and finished in 10:08. That's a 2 hour PR. Here's to more of that! I was as antsy to pace at Hardrock as I am for the ...

Tri's and Tribulations: April 2011
http://trainingmo.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 26, 2011. I weeded the garden. I balanced the checkbook. I did yoga. FOUR TIMES. I washed the dog. I thought about giving up Coke again for awhile, but gave up on that. I did some trail maintainance - took down some deadfalls, rebuilt a bridge with Co, trimmed back lots of brush, took out some stumps. I watched TV. I read a book (re-read "The Count of Monte Cristo"). I read another book. (A dog's purpose.). BUT I DID NOT RUN. (much). Every plan is good until the first shot is fired.".

Tri's and Tribulations: August 2014
http://trainingmo.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 6, 2014. Training Day, Ironman style. On Aug. 1. My thoughts were as follows: Wasatch Front 100 mile endurance race is in 5 weeks. I really want to do well there, run hard, have fun. Ironman Boulder is in 2 days. I have ridden my bike 8 times in the last 3 months. (I snapped the bolt holding my headset in place, and it took a LOOOONG time for the shop to get the parts.) I have a new saddle on there that I have used twice. It seems. It’ll be FIIIIINE. Ok, guess not. Mark Mackenzie and I ...

Tri's and Tribulations: Wasatch Front 100 2014
http://trainingmo.blogspot.com/2015/07/wasatch-front-100-2014.html
Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Wasatch Front 100 2014. Fred advised keeping your heart rate at 60% on the first climb. Phil said to run both road sections between Lamb's and Brighton. Use a headlamp at the start. Nobody should use poles at the start. Whatever anyone tells you, what you get on the day of your goal 100 mi race is the unexpected. When I won the Wasatch 2014 lottery, but in my head I was thinking, "Finally! I win a race lottery! But was I an under 30 candidate? I felt good at the start. Nervo...
