Words and Music in Sheffield. Restless Farewell →. Words and Music in Sheffield. April 7, 2015. One of my first nights out when I moved to Sheffield six months ago, was to a poetry evening at the Tamper coffee bar, as part of Sheffield’s Off the Shelf festival. This was a great evening in a superb venue, and it got me thinking. Here are some extracts from a collection I wrote in Dartington a few summers ago. Some were influenced by the location, some by music I was listening to at the time [David Bowie, Nick Drake, Olivier Messiaen and others]. But the main compositional drive was given by just having the space and time to doodle away on a guitar and follow the musical pathways wherever they went. October 18, 2015 at 11:28 pm.
