Jodhpur is certainly one of the top tourist spots in Rajasthan, which is one of the top tourist destinations in India. That affects life here, and not always for the better as it changes the culture of the place as hordes descend on it with euros and dollars. I also have some photos of the Jodhpur Fort. One can get a bit jaded about some of this when traveling in India, but I must admit that when first walking up the stone road into the Golden Fort at Jaisalmer, past the wooden gates with spikes sticking out, and under the guard towers, it is like something out of Hollywood. Only, it's real. Rising out the inhospitable environment of western Rajasthan, it's role has changed. From violence, to tourist money. The Golden Fort Pictures. A Working, Living Fort.

The Venice of the East. Udaipur is certainly a picturesque setting in Rajasthan in western India. Where marharajas once ruled with the sword. Palaces and forts are so numerous, tourists get forted out. Some people also find it hard to travel here because there is great effort to overcharge in some places. Especially, if a visitor is seen as ignorant or naive. For architecture and scenes. Udaipur is one of the premiere places in India. Photos are here, of course.

In late spring in the Himalaya Mountains the red rhododendron blooms come out. They are different than that which is seen in Western flower gardens or yards. These grow on large trees - rhododendron forests. The forests are dark, and aluring. Trails wind along the mountain sides though all of it. The protection of this ecosystem.
