Aboard Our Oyster 56. Across the Pacific to Australia. By Andy Hilton August 17, 2016. Silky soft sand, prickly sharp and dangerous coral, lovely friendly people, lots of pearls and palm trees. Coral of many colours. Weather varied and sometimes stormy with rough seas. Whoever named the Pacific ‘The Passive Sea’ was telling a great big lie. Met some wonderful tribal communities who we exchanged gifts with in Fiji and Vanuatu. There are currently no comments, add one using the form below.

We then sailed to Bowen on the mainland where the film ‘Australia’ was made, stocked up the cupboards again and sailed to Magnetic Island just of the coast of Townsville. A couple of days later headed for Cairns to stock up again and have some time ashore. Off to Darwin 19th August which is over 1000 miles from Cairns so we have a long way to go.
