FROM THE GARDEN OF ZEN. My photographic notes about the four seasons in Kamakura or the gardens of Zen. July 1, 2015. Ayame (iris) flowers: Kaizo-ji. In the tender morning sunlight, the thin white petals and sword-like green leaves of Ayame (iris) are shining softly. FROM THE GARDEN OF ZEN. My photographic notes about the four seasons in Kamakura or the gardens of Zen. July 1, 2015. Ajisai (Hydrangea macrophylla) flowers: Kaizo-ji. The peaceful garden, which had been cleansed by the rain, was gracefully colored by the flowers of Ajisai and the thick green leaves peculiar to this pale rainy season. The seasons let us know their invisible turning by the vivid change of flowers. Every flower blooms and falls hastily to teach us of the transient beauty of life. Ajisai (H...

FROM THE GARDEN OF ZEN. My photographic notes about the four seasons in Kamakura or the gardens of Zen. August 2, 2015. Sacred lotus flower: Kaizo-ji. The burning sun and the sweltering air of midsummer make the magnificent flowers of sacred lotus bloom high above the dazzling water surface. FROM THE GARDEN OF ZEN. My photographic notes about the four seasons in Kamakura or the gardens of Zen. April 27, 2015. Flowers bloom gracefully and fragrantly to invite insects, birds and winds to themselves for their precious duty of pollination. Flowers attract us to let us witness their transient and utmost beauty, which is to fade away quickly by their final scattering in the soft breezes. Links to this post. Yama-zakura (Cerasus jamasakura) blossoms: Engaku-ji (Kita-kamakura). Links to this post.

FROM THE GARDEN OF ZEN. My photographic notes about the four seasons in Kamakura or the gardens of Zen. May 30, 2015. Suiren (water lily) flower: Kita-kamakura. In the early morning after drizzling night rain, I found the first flower of water lily was open modestly in my small garden. Every plant knows its own flowering season and blooms beautifully with all its might for the joy of living. Soon the grayish rainy season will come here as a bridge between fragrant spring and bright summer. In China and J...
