Quentin Johnston - Paintings, Drawings and Sundry Affairs: Seaside Palette Knife
http://quentinjohnston.blogspot.com/2012/04/seaside-palette-knife.html
Tuesday, April 3, 2012. Managed to get out the other day for a short and unfortunately sun-interrupted (was cool and cloudy at first) plein air session. Palette knife on rough 10 by 16" linen. (that's a lot to cover with only a knife and changing conditions). Fun, nonetheless! April 13, 2012 at 12:13 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). http://quentinjohnston.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 25, 2011. Pen and ink illustration. Originally a brush illustration but I reworked it with pen and like the results better for textural effects and the spontaneity of approach. Hopefully the first of many. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Quentin Johnston - Paintings, Drawings and Sundry Affairs. Sharing my trials and tribulations of practicing art. Links to my other blogs. Quentin Johnston - Paintings, Drawings and Sundry Affairs: Drawing of a pelvis
http://quentinjohnston.blogspot.com/2011/07/drawing-of-pelvis.html
Thursday, July 7, 2011. Drawing of a pelvis. I've been experimenting with red and white chalk on toned paper as a means to draw. Due to the grain of the pencil you can't really render very well so things become somewhat less academic but without resorting to a technique or deliberate style. It's more like the tighter paintings - tighter looking but not rendered. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Quentin Johnston - Paintings, Drawings and Sundry Affairs. Links to my other blogs. Wednesday, November 10, 2010. Not yet varnished, with some sinking in, so it's showing some unwanted suede effect right now. 9 by 12 " on wood panel. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). john allen hammer: Planned Community Sector 11 11B
http://johnallenhammer.blogspot.com/2011/12/planned-community-sector-11-11b.html
Saturday, December 10, 2011. Planned Community Sector 11 11B. December 10, 2011 at 7:07 AM. Theres a peculiar tension between the directional energy of the two characters movement and the rather lax leash connecting them. Seems to say something about their relationship but its left to the viewer to determine what. The arcane essence is confirmed by the gate and barbed wire above. even by the cast shadows dividing their relationship. Fairly powerful undercurrent, even if Im way off base here.
