Wednesday, September 17, 2008. A few more photos. Well - I made it a week without working out. Was going to try and get in 2-3 weeks, but its just not possible. Got a new cyclocross bike. It's a Ridley X-Fire. (see below) I absolutely love this bike! Went out and put 35 miles on it Monday night on gravel roads. Fun going on roads and seeing places I haven't seen before. A nice change from riding the same roads all the time! So Another Ironman that's the question! Wednesday, September 17, 2008. In an Iron...

Wednesday, July 1, 2009. Des Moines Hy-Vee Tri Recap. My day went pretty good. I was about 4 min slower in the swim from the previous year. 25 vs 29 min (possibly from no wetsuit, possibly because I just got to comfortable and didn't push myself). It was my goal to swim smooth and comfortable so I could ride very hard. Back into T2 (1:12) and off to the run. I took a salt tab as I was running out of transition and unfortunately got it stuck in my throat. Man that sucked! Any suggestions on this?

Monday, April 28, 2008. 4-27-08 Weekend Race Wrap-Up. The weather cooperated and it turned out to be an excellent day for racing. My Ironman friend Jenny Lorenz and I tackled the Iowa City River Run 10k. Jenny took 1st in her age group! I think I got 7th - 43.19 on my watch. which ended up being a 6.59 pace. Good for me. Ended the day with 1 1/2 hour on the trainer - Did some interval work and about 20 min just spinning the legs out loosing them up from the hard weekend. Time for food and bed! Jay and Ja...

Monday, July 28, 2008. Shoulder Separation - OUCH! Well - a little less than fortunate and bad timing pretty much sums this one up! On my ride out to RAGBRAI I got into a fight with a tree and it apparently won. I separated my shoulder (to what extent I'm not sure yet) but enough for it to hurt like holy you know what! More to come after my PT appt. Duh. Monday, July 28, 2008. Tuesday, July 15, 2008. Here's how Cale (one of the guys I was with described the course). Saturday - Bike 5:15, Run :45, Swim :30.

J. Schwertfeger 2008: Race day expectations - Ironman Wisconsin
http://schwertfegerironman.blogspot.com/2008/08/race-day-expectations-ironman-wisconsin.html
Monday, August 25, 2008. Race day expectations - Ironman Wisconsin. Here is my thought on what might happen at the upcoming Ironman Wisconsin race. Wake up early Sunday morning with very little sleep with great anticipation and nerves of this day. I'm very organized - everything I need is either in transition areas already or I have it laid out. I've planned and rehearsed for the worst, yet prayed for the best! I'm a bit nervous, but more excited to see the results of 9 months of training! Bring on the p...

Monday, June 23, 2008. Monday, June 23, 2008. Monday, June 2, 2008. June 2nd - Last 2 weeks recap. I'm back. Sorry for the lack of updates over the last couple of weeks. Despite a basketball knee injury the last couple of weeks have been pretty eventful. Over memorial day I took 2 straight days off - I needed it! First time since I started training for the Ironman 12-25-07 that I've had 2 straight days off. Chris and Lisa (my friends from Chicago) came down we had a nice relaxing weekend together.
