I'm at pains to describe exactly what happened, but one moment I was excitingly opening my food drop package, and moments later it seemed to game over. The Heysen Trail: Tapanappa to Balquhidder
http://jez-heysen.blogspot.com/2006/11/tapanappa-to-balquhidder.html
Sunday, November 05, 2006. It just seemed like it would be too hard. I'd done the first couple of hills ok, but could I ride another 15kms of it? And stupid me, I had not got up early enough, it was 10.30am already. So I canned the ride. I was at my determined end point of today's walk, Balquhidder, on Callawonga Road just past the end of Tunk Head Road. I had missed this End to End 3 walk when I was sick (remember the shortest cold ever? So I saved about 1.5kms by driving. I really enjoyed walki...Altho...

The Heysen Trail: The Rhinestone Cowboy that went too far
http://jez-heysen.blogspot.com/2007/05/rhinestone-cowboy-that-went-too-far.html
Sunday, May 27, 2007. The Rhinestone Cowboy that went too far. Mt Compass to Kyeema Conservation Park. Southern Guidebook, Maps 2.6-2.8. Well worth walking up along the short - but steep - spur trail to the peak of Mt Magnificent. Simon played his bagpipes at the peak, roll your eyes, actually, no, unroll your eyes, I don't mind his bagpipes. An adrenalin rush coming back down, I ran, yes, you read correct, I ran down. Proving how much better my knees are this hiking season. At 5/27/2007 12:00:00 AM.
