The wonder of it all. The Bosque del Apache. Is located about an hour and a half south of Albuquerque, New Mexico. The opportunities for bird photography change throughout the year, with the months November through February being the high season for migrating waterfowl and raptors. Not many accomplished avian photographers would include a photograph of a pigeon. I admired the fast flight and the exquisite curve the bird makes when deciding where to set down. Rawlins, south to Encampment, north to Atlantic City. Pinedale to Dubois →. Atlantic City to Pinedale. August 8, 2015. I love the aesthetic of these mining buildings on the way into Atlantic City. Small mining exhibit in the South Pass City historic museum, only about a 4 mile walk from Atlantic City and on trail. Then it was just about a day’s walk from the desert of the Basin into the grandeur of the Winds. The weather was moody right up until I was in the Cirque of the Towers. The Cirque of Towers!

Steamboat Springs to Encampment… To Berkeley! Atlantic City to Pinedale →. Rawlins, south to Encampment, north to Atlantic City. August 4, 2015. Hitching is illegal in Rawlins because there is a state penitentiary there. This explains why I could not get a ride across the overpass from the Greyhound stop at the gas station. So on my return trip, I had to hike south from Rawlins back down to Encampment, then do the same hitch back north to Rawlins that I did the first time around. I’m a flip-flopper!
