Students Matter

Thursday, April 12, 2007. Students always have something to say and they should be heard. So many times I have been in a classroom where a student wants to say something to a teacher but the teacher just does not want to hear it. It is understandable that a student should not be telling a personnal story during a lesson because of the small amount of time, but they should be heard eventually. Also, if the child has something to say that does pertain to the lesson then why not have the student talk? If a ...

Students Matter: Homework

http://katieseducationalblog.blogspot.com/2007/04/homework.html

Wednesday, April 11, 2007. Homework is suppose to help children and not stress them out, but this is not always the case. I know that homework can be very hard and sometimes it is intimidating. To ask for help, but this only leads to problems. Themselves but I know that I feel homework is pointless when I don't know what I am doing. Teachers must make sure homework is beneficial and make sure the students know what they are doing before they teach themselves the wrong things. April 12, 2007 at 9:51 AM.

Students Matter: Be Respectful

http://katieseducationalblog.blogspot.com/2007/04/be-respectful.html

Saturday, April 7, 2007. Students are people too and need to be respected. They have their own values and beliefs and deserve to be listened to. Students need to be treated as individuals with individual learning needs and abilites. As a teacher you must understand that a lesson plan may not cater to every student and that needs to be taken into account. Teachers need to go above and beyond in order for every student to feel comfortable and feel like they have a place in the classroom. I definitely agree...

Students Matter: Self-confidence

http://katieseducationalblog.blogspot.com/2007/04/self-confidence.html

Sunday, April 8, 2007. Teachers need to make sure that students have self- confidence. If a student is having trouble in math or having trouble reading a story, do not let the child bring him or herself down. If a child feels they cannot do something, it will become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Students need to know that they can do anything if they try hard enough. I have seen teachers tell students to not worry about a certain. April 16, 2007 at 3:59 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Technological Teaching: Athletics vs. Academics

http://danedu112.blogspot.com/2007/04/athletics-vs-academics.html

Thursday, April 12, 2007. Athletics vs. Academics. This is a serious problem that is ongoing in all levels of education. It is implanted in children at a very young age that their role models and heroes are those they see on television.most of the time professional athletes. If you were to ask me at a young age I probably would have said something along the lines of Michael Jordan being my hero. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Thursday Spring 2007 Class Links. Teaching Today: Educational Blogs

http://jbedu112.blogspot.com/2007/04/educational-blogs.html

Thursday, April 5, 2007. I plan to use blogs when I teach at a High School level, especially in my English classes. I think it would be a really good idea to have blogs for pieces of literature we read, so that everyone can feed off of each other's reflections. I believe there would be a lot more understanding of the text if the students have a tool that helps them express their reactions to the reading assignments. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Amy's Edu: Grabbing Attention

http://amysedu.blogspot.com/2007/04/grabbing-attention.html

Tuesday, April 10, 2007. It is important to have technology in the classroom today because it grabs students' attention. I have observed in a high school math classroom where the students were not interested in participating in class or listening to anything the teacher had to say. The next day, she took them into the computer lab to play math games on the computer and have competitions. It felt like I was observing a completely different classroom! April 12, 2007 at 9:42 AM. Thursday, April 21, 2011. Of how to use cell phones in the classroom. These can be very beneficial to students, but need to be used the correct way. Monday, April 18, 2011. When was the last time you looked in a school? With this new technology is can be misused very quickly. Many college classrooms require students to have laps tops in class to take notes on and connect to a channel, where the teachers can connect with the students as well. Students with these privigles can also abuse.

Mash-up Poem no. 6. I’m tired of hope with nothing to hold. I just came to say goodbye. Like putting a Mickey Mouse band-aid on a gunshot wound, the deepest heartbreak becomes the trashiest pop art. Fitting, considering how well I’ve healed from it. 8220;Growth Mindset”. It’s pretty remarkable that this took me nearly an entire year to finish. I’m feeling both proud and ashamed.
