Friday, June 29, 2007. It was a great day of boating, waterskiing, wakeboarding, and tubing with my sister's family! The lake was very calm. The reflection of dd in this shot is amazing - right beside the wake! DD was amazing, too, getting up and staying up her first time wakeboarding. But then, I'm a little biased. :). Wednesday, February 28, 2007. Thirty-five degrees feels warm when the sun is shining, and my car very much needed the salt and mud washed off. DS thought it might be a fun job, so he got it! Warm weather does this to snow caves. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted. Tonight's moon is brilliant, and there's a ring way out around it that I couldn't capture in the picture. Behold the utterly melted honey jar - I only had hoped for a mere warming of the contents - not utter destruction - but what is there to do when memory fails - oh yea, I DID put that on there and turned flames on under it! Wednesday, June 6, 2007. Transformers, More than Meets The Eye. This transformer is 1/2 inch wide. The 42 gauge wire (to the right) is like hair. My husband makes these - by hand. Of course a precision high speed winder turns that fine wire 266 times around the bobbin. Electronic testing equipment will let us know if it is even one turn off. This is a Completed transformer, with the core stacked, and the leads (22 gauge gold plated copper) bent just so. The unit is soaked in epoxy in a vacuum chamber.
