Sea kayaking from the Isle of Man. Isle of Man guide. The 2012 Isle of Man adventure race. On the weekend of 16th June a dedicated group of teams gathered in the Isle of man for the annual Adventurous experiences. After battling through a sea swim, a sea kayak race, a mountain bike event, and a hill run, the crowds gathered for the grand finale of a gruelling rope climb. The event was deservedly won by “The Rockhoppers” who took the coveted winners paddle. It was filed under Events. Links to great sites.

We made an early start and headed into the wind for the final part of the Menai Straits past Caernarfon castle and on to Abermenai point where we would turn right (again) and finally head north on the home straight. The sea state was not overwhelming when we did exit the straits but it was going to be hard going for the final 40k. We snuck through Penrhyn Mawr with no problem. Back tomorrow for a play! Formerly Nigel Dennis Kayaks) are based in Anglesey, North Wales and offer a range of sea kayaks. For a spray deck my current model is by Snap Dragon. And it is the best deck I have used to date. The quality of the materials and manufacture are outstanding. The flexibility makes for a secure yet comfortable fit. So far it also standing up well to wear and tear. Join 119 other followers.

Cape Saint Elias Lightkeepers Association
Cape St Elias Lightkeepers. It is now a National Historic Landmark. Built in 1916, it sits on a steep slope adjacent to a two-story lightkeepers’ residence. Below it is a helicopter pad, boathouse, and research center. Today only the boathouse is habitable, with wood stove, water tank, propane oven, blankets, and bunks for as many as 10 paying visitors.
