KC and Ashley's Airplane. Our Van's RV-14 Build Log. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Newer posts →. January 1, 2014. We decided to let the left tank ribs set up another day so we worked on the right side today. We got the skin dimpled, J-Stiffener fabricated, tank-baffle holes countersunk, and sealed the fixtures onto the inboard rib (sealed and clecoed, rivet tomorrow). We also got the tank skin stiffeners pro sealed and clecoed onto the skin awaiting rivets tomorrow. January 1, 2014.

KC and Ashley's Airplane. Our Van's RV-14 Build Log. Skip to primary content. I started this adventure by buying an RV tool kit from Avery Tools. I’ve been very pleased with everything from Avery but I’ve also added a few items along the way. I wanted to start this page to keep note of some of my favorite tools and notes about what I find most useful. For aluminum aircraft construction it all starts with the air compressor. I found this guy discounted about 25% at a local Sears. You can scrimp on air dri...

KC and Ashley's Airplane. Our Van's RV-14 Build Log. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Tag Archives: Van’s RV-14. January 1, 2016. I had a small Christmas break project that may be worth reporting. It has always driven me a bit crazy using the DRDT-2 on large pieces. I had a tendency to fish around trying to get the die to mate with the rivet hole, putting small scratches on the piece. So I decided to make a laser sight. Step 1: Acquire Laser. As I said above, it does stick down into th...

KC and Ashley's Airplane. Our Van's RV-14 Build Log. Skip to primary content. Move complete and new workshop ready. November 23, 2014. 30×40 workshop / Airplane factory. And, after a ton of help from Dad and a successful move…. Since I can’t hang stuff on the walls here very easily, I had some fixtures to build. So that took a good bit of time but now I’ve got a great deal of storage and workbench space and I’m ready to start working aluminum again. Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Your ...

KC and Ashley's Airplane. Our Van's RV-14 Build Log. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Tag Archives: how to ruin a shirt. January 3, 2014. Last day that dad’s in town so I’d better get a full day’s work out of him…. 2 Clean out hole of excess sealant from the overnight set up. 3 Apply small dab of sealant to the dimple. 4 Insert rivet. It will sit in this bed of fresh sealant. 5 One person holds the bucking bar, the other drives the rivet. One of the inboard ribs. Fuel tank drain flange.

Pitch Autopilot | Stoney & J's N214SW Build
http://rvbuild214sw.com/pitch-autopilot
Stoney and J's N214SW Build. Lessons & Hints. June 21, 2015. I went ahead and installed the pitch Autopilot. Garmin sent a solid aluminum rod and it first had to be cut to size. Then it needed a hole in the middle of it and then it had to be tapped to accept the fitting. At first I couldn’t figure out how to drill the hole centered in the rod and Van’s suggestion was to use a lathe. Perfect! VAF – RV-14 Builder’s Forum. KC & Ashley. Tim Olson’s RV-14. Stoney and J's N214SW Build. Lessons & Hints. As of right now, my wife is very supportive and looking forward to the day we can hop in the plane to go visit the grandkids in Texas. http://rvbuild214sw.com/canopy-attached-to-the-frame
Stoney and J's N214SW Build. Lessons & Hints. Canopy attached to the frame. July 29, 2015. Now the canopy is attached. There are a few odds and ends before I can start the fiberglass fairing process. I need to put in on the plane and check the fitting of the canopy, then attach the clips to hold it down while it is being fiberglassed. At least the pool table is getting some use, other than for folding clothes. VAF – RV-14 Builder’s Forum. KC & Ashley. Tim Olson’s RV-14. Picked up the Plane in Fort Worth.
