With Stars In Her Eyes. Sunday, May 31, 2009. The two day long first of June. I woke this morning, June 1st, and went hiking up a steep mountain to look out over the fijian. Beach below and the ocean beyond. Tonight I will arrive in Kansas City in the last hours of June 1st. It is the best June 1st ever. Fiji is pretty great. You may have heard stories about how unpretty. And then she says, in her clickty. Dolphin language: "You aren't a real mermaid! You are just a snorkler. It appears to be a win win w...
With Stars In Her Eyes: Back in the U.S.A.
http://keligirl.blogspot.com/2009/07/back-in-usa.html
With Stars In Her Eyes. Thursday, July 30, 2009. Back in the U.S.A. I have been back in the states for two months and I still have not entirely figured out how to explain the transition. Partially because it is difficult to understand. It would be easier if it was tangibly difficult but really turns out to be very vague. Like a quiet undercurrent of emotions I can't quite name. I figure trying to write about it might help. Is not easy to embrace. It isn't easy to even ask. 1 Don't drive places that are e...

http://keligirl.blogspot.com/2009/03/uncollected.html
With Stars In Her Eyes. Sunday, March 01, 2009. Is a very jovial and present member of my community. People call him 'Doc' for no explainable reason. Every time. I see him he greets me by my village name ' Mutinta. And then invariably says 'hallo hallo hallo hallo hallo' in a quick decrescendo. I run past Mr. Mwalusaka's. House everyday - or everyday I run and he always waves and yells ' Kuyumyuna. Meaning to stay or be strong. This word is invariable coupled with a brief holk. Up, the chair back alongsi...

http://keligirl.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html
With Stars In Her Eyes. Sunday, February 18, 2007. Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy. There is so much to say- where to begin and how to fit it all in. You might be pleased to hear that I am actually very comfortable. Once you let go of a few things it is easy to be comfortable. I do have moments when I feel overwhelmed, but they pass and then I come home and Bama presents me with two pieces of bubble gum and orange crush as gifts, and those taste a lot like love. The views and opini...

Nevertheless, this man was certain the baskets were American Indian artifacts because he had seen them while watching an episode of Chuck Norris. Family, friends and key lime pie…t...
