Hybrid bikes are designed specifically for the leisure, fitness or commuter rider. They are fitted with large 700c wheels but with wider rims and tyres than a road bike enabling them to be efficient on both road and non tarmac surfaces. They have the same gear systems as mountain bikes (18-27 gears) and similar braking systems. Various options are available on these bikes with items such as suspension seat posts, adjustable rise handlebar stems, mudguards and pannier carriers fitted.
