http://shinshuulife.blogspot.com/2014/12/sunday-late-afternoon.html
I want that much snow! All we have is rain, storm, more rain. The sky is packed with clouds, I forgot what the sun looks like! This area has bitterly cold winters but lots of blue sky days that glimmer on the snow. ALmost makes up for the terrible cold! Sorry this reply is so late, I didnt realise I had moderation set to on and I missed your comment! An Australian married to a Japanese living with two daughters at the foot of the Japan Alps. A Bit Of This and A Bit Of That. Lessons in Wifeyness and Shit.

shinshu life: Little kids, big dreams
http://shinshuulife.blogspot.com/2015/07/little-kids-big-dreams.html
Little kids, big dreams. Wayyyyyy behind posting but July 7th is Tanabata festival here. It's a complicated star crossed lovers and Milky Way story that I could write out but hey, why put Wikipedia out of work, hey? Anyway Tanabata was too cloudy for the star crossed lovers to make their way across the Milky Way and meet when the girls checked before bed this year. The next morning Meg asked if it cleared up overnight. Don't think so honey. That's ok, said Amy. They can just Skype. I want to be Doraemon.

TJKLR life and times: L won a giraffe!!
http://tj-injapan.blogspot.com/2013/03/l-won-giraffe.html
TJKLR life and times. Monday, 4 March 2013. L won a giraffe! We never win anything. Most recently, we tried to win tickets for Disneyland by collecting the points off the bread (only bought yamazaki bread for two or three months, and must have sent in at least a dozen forms).but nada. I think the last thing I actually won was a Paula Abdul LP, or was it the Bobby Brown LP - cant remember which came last, since I was in about 7th or 8th grade! 6 March 2013 at 4:53 pm. Yay, youre back :). L: the little fel...

I make K's lunch each day. I know he could make his own. I'm no Martha Stewart and I believe in gender equality. I also like doing little things to make K's life a little easier and he likes me making his lunch so win/ win situation. The lunches have few requirements- volume, large proportion of rice, grilled fish if possible. Red turnip pickles, grilled eggplants, feijoada, grilled saury and cucumbers and mayo. Marinated eggplant, frittata, cucumber, tomato stew, saury. That's six lunches in total.

Why do you go to the basketball? Is it for the giant characters of wasabi and soba? What about seeing the two samurai have a fake battle? Or posing with the samurai? Having your picture taken with the cheerleaders- holding their pompoms- and getting their trading cards? Watching the halftime unicycle dance performance? Having your photo taken with the unicycle dancers maybe? There eas so much going on at the basketball match I'm surprised there was time for basketball. The annual cherry blossom portraits.

http://tj-injapan.blogspot.com/2012/05/david-bowie-and-nike.html
TJKLR life and times. Saturday, 19 May 2012. David Bowie And Nike. The months of April and May have brought us many! K turned 5. No longer a baby at five years old;( you can see the difference in her too - my little baby girl all grown up(; ). K started pre-school. She is nen-chu. She LOVES it, wants to leave the house before 8:30 most mornings to get there early;). My, how those two years have flown. And he has FINALLY started sleeping through the night - by which I mean 7:30pm until 4:30am! Yep, lots o...

Tea with turkey in it? Perfect for Thanksgiving, huh? It's a Japlish problem- they mean Turkish apricot tea, tea with Turkish apricots. Perfect for Thanksgiving, huh? I don't think I have ever stressed this much over a house guest. Well two of them. I was blogging from my phone and the post deleted itself. We are hamster-sitting grade 4's pet hamsters. There are 20 people on hamster sitting rotation. Seems the responsibility is too much for some families. And I get that. Hamster rocking back and forward.

Long time no see. Wow, that was quite the absence, huh? A combination of things. life. travel. work. addiction to reality tv. And finding out that the google searches that led people here included such gems as 'topl* * girls' and 'young g* * naked' which, frankly must have been quite disappointing for the searcher but also made me quite uncomfortable. So, I stopped blogging. But I never stopped thinking of things I wanted to write about and taking pictures of life here. That's where it stands and I'm loo...

Things that make you go hmmmmm. Take a good look at that picture. Just another red bean filled pancake. Look at that use by date! I found this at ge back if the cupboard. It's five MONTHS past use by and if looks perfect. K feels this is a grand example if the advances in food preservation technology japan should be proud of. I don't like processed long life snacks even when they're fresh. I wouldn't eat this if you paid me! The chooks have no such qualms though. Playing after school Nagano style. Our Li...
