When using Mozilla Firefox or Apple Safari with Google Docs, you have the option on the Upload menu to “Enable folder upload…” then install a Java applet. You have to do this for each browser where you want to use Folder Upload. Once installed, the Java applet runs every time you load the main Google Docs page. There’s no UI to disable the Java applet once you’ve enabled Folder Upload. Go to the Privacy.
