Our service is specifically for those who have an urgent need, and cannot wait until surgery opening hours. Beacon runs an Acute GP Triage service, Monday to Friday. Although this is still in a Project stage, early indications are very good and show that over 30% of all patients seen by the Acute GP are discharged and back home the same day. The Beacon Step-down bed project is aimed at patients who cannot go home straightaway for various reasons but are not ill enough to require admission to the main hospital.
