The Franco-files: September 2008
http://franco-files.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 28, 2008. So, I've been a bad, lazy blogger recently. Sorry! I'll try and do better. Once again, it's been a week, and I've done a lot. Here's a quick run-down:. Weekend trip to Giverny (Monet's house and garden) and Rouen (where Joan of Arc was burned, also home to an amazing gothic cathedral). In short, absouletly incredible and gorgeous. I took 160 photos, mostly of flowers (heh). I'll upload some of the good ones tomorrow. Saw a play, Du Cristal a la Fumee. Links to this post. But I...

The Franco-files: Epicurean
http://franco-files.blogspot.com/2008/12/epicurean.html
Wednesday, December 10, 2008. On Monday I had my last Theatre class, finally gave my presentation, and then went with the class to our last play of the semester. It was L'illusion Comique. By Corneille. It's about a man who has lost his son, and goes to a magician for help. The magician says he will show the man his son, but what he actually shows him is a second play within the play! Then the actors of the play within a play begin a third play! Chestnut and Fennel Soup. Recipe by Thierry Chaney). Dissol...

The Franco-files: Veni, Vidi...Vino?
http://franco-files.blogspot.com/2008/11/veni-vidivino.html
Sunday, November 30, 2008. Veni, Vidi.Vino? So my Thanksgiving pecan pie turned out really well. And a close up:. Despite all of my reservations, people really liked it! I got a lot of compliments on it, I was even told it was the best dessert of the night! My cranberries on the other hand.didn't turn out so well. Don't get me wrong, they were delicious, I just didn't make them far enough in advance, and so they didn't have time to gel. Oh well, they made a nice salad dressing. The first is a rose from B...

The Franco-files: Tomatoe and Smoked Salmon Quiche
http://franco-files.blogspot.com/2008/12/tomatoe-and-smoked-salmon-quiche.html
Saturday, December 6, 2008. Tomatoe and Smoked Salmon Quiche. My quiche was a hit! So, I decided to post the recipe I made up. Everything is in metric (sorry! But if you wanted to make a 9-inch quiche you would divide the ingredients in half and leave everything else the same. 28-32 cm pre-made pie crust. 5 eggs (yolk and white). 1 petit-suisse yogurt (60g). 4 slices of smoked salmon. A handful of grated cheese. 1) Pre-heat oven to 180. 2) Press crust into 32cm pie tin. December 9, 2008 at 2:29 PM. Chron...

The Franco-files: Food Glorious Food...
http://franco-files.blogspot.com/2008/12/food-glorious-food.html
Friday, December 5, 2008. Last Wednesday I woke up at 6am to go to Rungis. Thursday I went to the Musee Gustave Moreau. I didn't know what to expect, but I was really impressed. The first floor is pretty boring, but the second and third floors are just amazing. Each is just a giant giant room, walls covered from floor to ceiling with paintings by Moreau. They also have a huge collection of his drawings, sketches, and water colors. Luckily, I managed not too burn the place down. View my complete profile.

The Franco-files: October 2008
http://franco-files.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 29, 2008. Today it's really cold in Paris. I broke out my winter coat, finally, and boy did I need it. Problem is, where was autumn? None of which are to be found in Paris. Normally I don't pay attention to any of these things, especially the commercial stuff, but now I miss them. Even the candy. Links to this post. Sunday, October 26, 2008. So much (part 2). Taking up where I left off in the last post. The Cafe featured in Amelie. And then swung by the Moulin Rouge and le Chat Noir.

The Franco-files: August 2008
http://franco-files.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 30, 2008. Cycles, Dunes, and Freak-outs. I think it's worth it to taste everything at least once. I'm that much of a foodie. Speaking of food, on the walk home from where to tour bus dropped us off, Nicole and I stopped at a Marche` Plus, to buy lunch for tomorrow. Almost all the shops are closed on Sunday, so I wanted to be prepared. I quickly found what I wanted to eat, but Nicole had some difficulty. She kept on saying "I just want some normal food!
