Revolutions begin in the mind. James Robinson Johnston was the first Black lawyer in Nova Scotia. He graduated from Dalhousie University Law School in 1898, and was called to the Nova Scotian bar in 1900. He became a prominent Halifax lawyer and a tireless advocate for Black rights. The James R. From a young age, he began his fight for racial dignity. His inherent Afrocentric roots led him to believe that Black people were not inferior to anyone and he lived his life that way.
