MAX'S BIRDING DIARY

Tuesday, 3 April 2018. A PAIR OF MED GULLS AT THE LOCAL PATCH. Took a chance with the weather this morning and popped over to Marsh Lane getting there at 9.00 AM.It was not a good move because what little brightness that was about had gone and it was gloomy with drizzle in the air. There was a lone Yellowhammer. On the CP feeder bushes and considering the dull conditions I managed a decent shot. On one of the remaining islands on the Railway pool.Managed some shots in the gloom. Links to this post. I tho...

MAX'S BIRDING DIARY: A RARE VISIT TO BRANDON MARSH.

http://maxsbirdingdiary.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-rare-visit-to-brandon-marsh.html

Saturday, 1 August 2015. A RARE VISIT TO BRANDON MARSH. Fancied somewhere different on Saturday morning so I decided to make a rare visit to Brandon Marsh hoping to get some Kingfisher. Things didn't start well that morning because I managed to drop my electric beard trimmer down the toilet and to make matters worse it got wedged in the trap and took some freeing.Of course it was ruined so that clumsiness cost me £26. And of a Goldcrest. I then headed straight to the Ted Dury hide hoping to get some Hobby.

MAX'S BIRDING DIARY: July 2015

http://maxsbirdingdiary.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 29 July 2015. EARLSWOOD LAKES AND MARSH LANE. On Monday I nipped over to Earlswood Lakes hoping the Black Tern. Reported there on Sunday by John Oates was still there. On the causeway I soon met up with Matt Griffiths and he told me it had not been seen at all that day. Can't win them all! There were loads of Common Terns. So I tried for some shots of these chaps before the rainy conditions sent me scooting back home. Which was far too quick for me. And a Little Grebe. MAX'S BIRDING DIARY: August 2015

http://maxsbirdingdiary.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, 30 August 2015. SHUSTOKE RESERVOIR,MARSH LANE AND UPTON WARREN. On Thursday morning I was very much in wimp mode because the ferocious attack I'd endured earlier in the week by a female Pheasant had messed up my knee again.Needing to go out I went over to Shustoke Reservoir where you can park up and scan the water without the need to walk far. By the gate to the reserve gate I spotted loads of Hirundines. Were on the wires.Took a few shots but not from a good angle. Were far too far away for me.

Monday, 29 June 2015. A QUICK VISIT TO MARSH LANE. Popped over to Marsh Lane again this morning for a walk round in the warm sunny weather. As expected there was nothing new on the CP pool which was very quiet.I was just dozing off when all hell broke loose and a huge punch up erupted on the main island in front of the hide.A Moorhen. Had completely lost it's rag with an Oystercatcher. And they went at it hammer and tongues for a while. The Moorhen. There was a second summer Med Gull. Links to this post.

MAX'S BIRDING DIARY: December 2014

http://maxsbirdingdiary.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Saturday, 27 December 2014. WHERE HAVE ALL THE BIRDS GONE. Even allowing for the pressures of Xmas and the bad weather the few days I've been able to go out with the camera lately has been very poor with very few birds about. Also as far as I know nothing of note has been reported at any of the local patches. On a berry tree in Four Ashes a few days ago. The back garden and my neighbour's (we are all keen bird feeders) have been very poor so far this year with no winter Thrushes. Links to this post. APB At Home And Away!!!: August 2014

http://annbridget.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

APB At Home And Away! Sunday, 31 August 2014. New Bike Hire Concept Brought To The Region. Wednesday, 27 August 2014. Having lived close to Bosley Reservoir now since January, yesterday afternoon was the first sighting I have had of an Heron as it flew over my property, last week end we checked out another stretch of the Canal system around the region, this time Caldon Canal from Sneyd Green towards Milton and then later on in the day from Stockton Brook towards Leek. Sunday, 17 August 2014. Also spotted...

http://annbridget.blogspot.com/2015/05/badger-cake.html

APB At Home And Away! Tuesday, 5 May 2015. After such a fantastic day yesterday mainly spent in the Garden, I decided to put the Night Camera out in the Coppice my side of the Bosley Reservoir, not expecting the rain that came through during the night, and even though very welcome for the garden and new plants, not so for the recovery of the Camera this morning! Pete's Birding Blog: November 2014

Thursday, 20 November 2014. Autumnal Highlands With The New Canon 7D Mk2. Next time we'll fly up" was what (Wildlife) Kate and I said to Andy and Lyndsey Howard as we bid farewell to them both, and considered the eight hour drive back to the Midlands after a few days spent in and around Inverness. But what a wonderful break we had enjoyed, packed with wildlife, fun and photography of course, all set against the Scottish Highlands. Perhaps he's the Pied Piper Of Cresties? Keeping low to the ground, we wat...

Pete's Birding Blog: March 2015

http://petesbirdingblog.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Monday, 30 March 2015. Following my recent decision to walk away from my career in IT, at least for a while, and concentrate on my photography, I find myself in a position to be able to do what I want and when. As such, Mull was top of the list (as usual! And after a bit of planning, I had arranged to stay there for a week mid-March, with the intention of heading further north to the Highlands for a second week. The first morning on Mull was glorious. Calm and frosty, and I had decided to head south ...

Tuesday, 15 July 2014. Frustration, Jealousy And A Change Of Luck. I suppose a birding blog should focus on birds, not insects like the last post, but I have found my small garden pond to be such a valued addition to the plot, in terms of new and varied wildlife, that the tale of the emerging dragonflies needed airing. No It was a juvenile robin, which I could have seen in the garden. So a near 300 mile trip which again, resulted in next to nothing. More nose-rubbing later when Kate gleefully sho...Needl...

Pete's Birding Blog: Shetland: St Ninian's And Sumburgh Head

http://petesbirdingblog.blogspot.com/2015/07/shetland-st-ninians-and-sumburgh-head.html

Monday, 13 July 2015. Shetland: St Ninian's And Sumburgh Head. Thursday was forecast to be sunny and almost warm, which given the temperatures during the trip so far would be a pleasant change. While it hadn't been cold as such, for me, after my week in Menorca days before flying up to Shetland, it was quite a change to the system! The fulmars divided their time between being sat on the nest, flying up and down the headland slopes, or flying out on to the bay, to bob about on the water. It was fun tr...

Pete's Birding Blog: September 2014

http://petesbirdingblog.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, 18 September 2014. An early night, short pitstop to Tescos and I found myself stifling giggles at the ferry terminal ticket office when a chap next to me said he fancied going to Oban for the day, only to be quizzically informed that he was actually in Oban. He meant Craignure! The crossing was calm but the breeze was a bit chilly to be stood outside, so I watched the seas from the viewing lounge area, spotting a small flock of shearwaters at one point, and quite a few guillemots too. Then with...

Sunday, 19 July 2015. Shetland: The Last Days. After the sun-filled Thursday, Friday was back to what Paula had assumed the weather might be for the week, with rain falling and rather gloomy as a result. We eventually headed out to look around the isle, in case anything interesting showed itself, but I think the wildlife had also decided to shelter from the rain and we ended up in a pub of all places, with Kate requesting a cup of tea! Whilst this action was going on, and I was trying to photo it from th...

As an Associate in the 2013 NYC TechStars program, it was undeniable to me that there was something very special about the TechStars experience. However, until very recently, I’ve had trouble putting my finger on exactly what it was about the program that was so special. Although on the surface, TechStars, as an accelerator, seems like a place that helps build. It is in fact a place that builds. Max's Best Blu-ray and DVD Picks. My master and I love movies but he's a senior citizen and I'm one in dog years since I am now eleven years and that is supposed to add up to about 77 years. We love a good story and there isn't much of that out of Hollywood anymore unless you're into vampires and action films and we're not. So our recommendations are often British or independent films and television series on Bly-ray and DVD. You will rarely find us at mall theaters. Max's Best Picks for September, 2013.

Max's Bill - A journey for justice. I want to work to reform or create a bill that requires child custody cases be heard within a reasonable time frame. My husband (and I) have been struggling to get a child custody case heard that has been postponed for more than a year by the mother and allowed the judge all the time while my 15 year-old step son is being abuse, both emotionally and mentally in the home of his mother and step-father.
