Mrs. Holman's Third Grade: Thrilling Thursday

http://mhtg.blogspot.com/2015/06/thrilling-thursday.html

Mrs Holman's Third Grade. Thursday, June 11, 2015. This morning, after reading quietly or practicing keyboarding, we began our math block. Students continued to work collaboratively on their amusement parks when they weren't meeting with me in small group. During the small group, teacher-led instruction, we analyzed unlabeled bar graphs and matched them with the data table each represented. Then, the students constructed bar graphs to match a data table. Fire drill of the year. Powered by web analytics.

http://mhtg.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Mrs Holman's Third Grade. Wednesday, November 26, 2014. This morning we were fortunate to have many grandparents spend the morning with us! We began by performing our plays for them. These were the plays we wrote on Monday based on a theme and including a distinct problem and solution. It was clear the students had learned a lot! The students worked nicely and appeared to enjoy free time to practice whichever skills they preferred. Have a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving weekend! Tuesday, November 25, 2014. In sma...

Mrs. Holman's Third Grade: March 2015

http://mhtg.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Mrs Holman's Third Grade. Tuesday, March 31, 2015. This morning, after reading quietly, exchanging books in the media center, or practicing keyboarding, we jumped into our math rotations. During the small group, teacher-led, instruction we solved multi-step word problems by writing and solving equations, using variables to represent the unknowns. Today the children were asked questions and given hints to help them solve multi-step word problems involving any of the four operations. Today students receive...

Mrs. Holman's Third Grade: January 2015

http://mhtg.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Mrs Holman's Third Grade. Friday, January 30, 2015. Just wanted to let you know that our day got off to a bit of a rough start. During arrival some students teased a child in another class and many of our friends stood by and giggled. We discussed this as a class and I feel quite certain they will make better choices in the future. Once we got settled the students took the math quiz (formative). These have been scored. Look for them in home folders this evening. Thursday, January 29, 2015. Look for your ...

Mrs Holman's Third Grade. Tuesday, June 9, 2015. This morning, after reading quietly or practicing keyboarding, the students continued working on their amusement parks and meeting with me in small groups. During the small group instruction we reviewed representing data using a pictograph and then practiced interpreting them. After math we took a Go Noodle brain break and then began our literacy block. As the children worked on these assignments, I met with guided reading groups. Tigers: Independently the...

http://vogelsclass.blogspot.com/2010_01_17_archive.html

Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Math: We are officially moving away from fractions and focusing on decimals for the time being. Although, while comparing equivalent decimals today using models, it was exciting to prove/disprove each other using - you guessed it - equivalent fractions! Tonight's homework is to have their quizzes signed and complete their BCD packet, pages 3 4. Posted by Mr. Vogel. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Beyond Damascus, MD. Journey to the Planets. Mr. V's Class: Data Analysis Lesson

http://vogelsclass.blogspot.com/2010/09/data-analysis-lesson.html

Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Below is the first video lesson of this school year! It's my first foray into this type of media so hopefully you find it a clear and reliable resource to help your child at home with our math concepts. In this specific video I did not include any names or faces of the students for obvious reasons, but I may decide to send home a permission slip in the event I incorporate student explanations, too. Of course, permission is optional. Posted by Mr. Vogel. Beyond Damascus, MD.

Mr. V's Class: 11/8/09 - 11/15/09

http://vogelsclass.blogspot.com/2009_11_08_archive.html

Monday, November 9, 2009. Tough day in the Vogel house yesterday.never been a fan of any kind of cowboy! Language Arts: As you'll see at conferences, we are hitting on all cylinders with determining importance of details and examining how details are related. It's this relationship that is essential to determining the main idea. We had a guidance lesson to day so I only met with two of my groups, albeit, rather briefly. Walking tour of Damascus is Friday morning - get in those permission slips!

Mr. V's Class: 10/25/09 - 11/1/09

http://vogelsclass.blogspot.com/2009_10_25_archive.html

Monday, October 26, 2009. No homework tonight for obvious reasons. Math: Today was day one of the unit assessment. We will complete it tomorrow and I expect to have parent reports out as soon as I get them. Since the grading and reporting for math is new to me, I'm not sure how quick the turnaround is. Next up is computation (4-5 week unit). In addition, we had 3 presentations of the book report today - many more tomorrow but we had an assembly on Ben Franklin this afternoon. Posted by Mr. Vogel.
