Shaking out the dust and starting fresh. Blogging, like life, has seasons. It’s difficult to keep a blog going long-term. After a while, it feels like you run out of things to say that are relevant. In those seasons, it’s easy to let your blog lapse for a few weeks. A month. Over two years. Well, I am shaking the dust out of the rugs, throwing back the curtains, and starting again. Hi there. I’m back. What is new in my little corner of the universe? So, that’s the family. Now on to me.

The Difficulty of Positivity. I’m convinced that hanging on to positivity is the key to mental health. It would be really easy right now to wallow in “poor me”. We have a comfortable home. We have two wonderful children to brighten our day. We have a good marriage and we’re coming up on our 10th wedding anniversary this July. We have cars that run, clothes on our backs, and food in our bellies. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming…. Shaking out the dust and starting fresh.

Mother, Wife, Sister, Daughter. Tuesday, September 29, 2009. I guess it is time for me to finally update this blog and to start posting regularly again. I week after my last post, things changed. My dad got really sick. We went to visit him for the 4th of July Holiday and well he wasn't himself then. A few days later he was in the hospital. I won't go into all the details but after a rough summer, my dad passed away on August 15th. I have never felt so very far away from my family. Tuesday, June 30, 2009.

I was still hooked up to the blood pressure machine and I had to do a whole list of kidney function tests every day and the nurses were constantly coming in to check on me and do various blood tests and I went for daily ultrasounds.
