Chaotic Quilter: April 2012
http://chaoticquilter.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, 8 April 2012. A very Happy Easter to you all! I thought I`d share some pictures of the new exhibition at Jen Jones. Welsh Quilt Centre in Lampeter. I ve been meaning to visit for a while but when I heard that the new show would be about Amish and Welsh quilts and the connections between them I had to go. The new quilt centre is housed in the Town Hall, quite an impressive building. 65279;As you can see, it is a fantastic space to display quilts. And here is a Welsh variation. Not all the quilts o...

The Quilting Edge: Construction Site
http://www.thequiltingedge.com/p/construction-site_3.html
Life is a Quilt Waiting to Happen. I've slowly started taking over the whole house. I love having so much space dedicated to my art. For many years I would just find a corner in the house. Now that my four kids are grown up and moved out, I can spread out guilt free. I'm always looking for new storage ideas or moving things around. Nothing is built in, so I can rearrange to my hearts content. I also have friends that come and sew with me on a regular basis, so I like making room for them too. It looks li...

Chaotic Quilter: March 2012
http://chaoticquilter.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, 11 March 2012. I don`t like perfection in quilts. I like to see traces of the maker in the finished quilts rather than something that could easily have been made in a factory. This lovely little quilt top shows just how far its maker has had to stretch her fabric stash. The result has a charm of it`s own, despite being a long way from Quilt Show perfection. There are places on the top where a lot of similar patches are clustered together. Sunday, 4 March 2012. It is the only quilt I have that cam...

Chaotic Quilter: February 2011
http://chaoticquilter.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, 27 February 2011. Copper and Beige Welsh Quilt. It looks like someone didn`t buy enough copper fabric for the front of her quilt and had to do some creative filling out. The fabric looks silver in the photos but is actually a beige colour. Here we can see it filling out one of the corners of the quilt. A rather jazzy 1930`s print is also used on three out of the four corners. It is the print that makes up the back of this quilt. And this is the back. I don`t think you could pick a fabric bett...

Chaotic Quilter: June 2011
http://chaoticquilter.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 22 June 2011. Red and Blue Quilt Top. This is an American quilt top I bought a few years ago. I love the gorgeous colour scheme and how striking the effect of a limited number of colours is. 65279;I think it may be an early nineteenth century top because of the darker colours. It`s hand pieced and the maker has been quite relaxed with the placing of the fabric colours within the blocks so that some seem to disappear into the background. There are some wonderful fabrics in this top.

Chaotic Quilter: May 2011
http://chaoticquilter.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 17 May 2011. Although Welsh quilts are my first love, I also appreciate and collect quilts from other countries; I have quite a few North Country/Durham quilts from England and several American quilts. This is the first American quilt that I bought and it is still one of my favourites. A classic Dresden Plate. I`m sorry I can`t get a better picture of it, but it is a large quilt and it`s far too rainy to photograph it outdoors; so I had to drape it over the sofa. I will post more tops soon.

Chaotic Quilter: July 2011
http://chaoticquilter.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, 28 July 2011. I`m not normally interested in minature quilts, all the quilts I make myself are full sized. However I totally fell in love with these exquisite tiny quilts by Dorian Walton. The photograph doesn`t do this selection of Amish inspired quilts any justice. Let`s just say that they were so impressive in real life. I took several attempts to try and capture the colours in this star pattern. A minature Sanderson Star. Just look at the work in this wholecloth quilt. It reminds me of the ...
