Wednesday, September 29, 2010. The fish gods were also good to me on Tuesday morning. This fish had three awesome jumps. I was very lucky to land him. Monday, July 7, 2008. We were just a stones throw from Pure Fishing world headquarters in Spirit Lake Iowa. Pure Fishing is the parent company to Berkeley. I tried to get a tour of the factory a few times, but arrived after hours one day and they were closed on the Thursday before the 4th. Dang. Here is an average Okoboji Largemouth Bass. Lake Okoboji is a Pan fisherman's dream the bluegill and Yellow Perch are numerous and larger on average than I have seen anywhere. Here is an average Okobiji Walleye.

Saturday, September 11, 2010. The Run Has Started! This summer was one of the worst summers I can remember for steelhead fishing. Warm harbor temperatures kept the fish out in the lake for nearly this entire summer. Pier fishing was only good for a few weeks in early June and then the fish fled to more comfortable water temperatures out in the lake. Here is Meppsman with a nice steelie from a few days ago. This fish slammed a silver/pink spinner. Here is Meppsman with a nice King from a few weeks ago.

Wednesday, April 30, 2008. Big Lake = Big Carp. Fly fishing for Great Lakes carp can be just as exciting as salt water flats fishing. Fly tackle best suited for big lake carp are 7 or 8 weight rods with smooth disc drag reels. Weight forward floating lines are best and 10 foot leader/tippet combinations that taper to 2X(8lb) will do fine. Sunday, September 21, 2008. The Coho fishing has been great and the steelhead fishing has also been good. There are also a few King Salmon in the streams. There are so many Coho that I think it it hard for the other fish to get the bait. The Crew and I have been having a great week. I never thought I was going to land this magnum steelhead. Sunday, September 19, 2010. How Far Can You Cast? The 2 hand reversible spool (bait casting) rods, consisted a small custom reel, minus the level wind and line guide, and a 13 foot rod. The rods were extra fast and needless to say built for long distance casting, not fishing. Here is a really neat reel the one of the casters was showing off.
