Yossarian Lives: Looper
http://onayahuasca.blogspot.com/2012/10/looper.html
Meanwhile, I am being brainwashed by Bamse. Wednesday, October 24, 2012. How does one get from Archipelago to Looper, you ask? Because in non-civilisation, they play mostly non-civilised movies. And in non-civilisation, you can't say no to people. To be fair to non-civilisation, Mr. Lane apparently said. It’s a surprisingly elegant and even elegiac movie, full of strange, befuddling joy". Yossarian Lives: Notes from IFFK - Part 3
http://onayahuasca.blogspot.com/2012/12/notes-from-iffk-part-3.html
Meanwhile, I am being brainwashed by Bamse. Tuesday, December 11, 2012. Notes from IFFK - Part 3. Last set of films this year - first, Kiarostami's foray into the world of Japanese cinema - Like Someone in Love. We will stay with Japan for one more film, Kurosawa's I Live in Fear. You didn't really think I was going to give the K retro a miss, did you? To be honest, however, I was bent on seeing The Hidden Fortress. But that did not work out, so I went and saw I Live in Fear. This is Julius Caesar, the w...
Yossarian Lives: Skyfall
http://onayahuasca.blogspot.com/2012/11/skyfall.html
Meanwhile, I am being brainwashed by Bamse. Friday, November 02, 2012. One good reason to watch the film - a delicious Ben Whishaw as Quartermaster. Seriously. Though he appears for all of 10 minutes. I know, it is a recurring theme. I gave one satisfied sigh of joy when Ben appeared. I thought the film was not bad (barring one quease-inducing scene of nonconsensuality) but like you said, true Bond fans didnt seem to like that the world didnt end with the bang they were expecting. What did I miss now?
Yossarian Lives: Notes from IFFK - Day One
http://onayahuasca.blogspot.com/2012/12/notes-from-iffk-day-one.html
Meanwhile, I am being brainwashed by Bamse. Saturday, December 08, 2012. Notes from IFFK - Day One. Day One has inadvertently been a French day for moi. Day started bright and early and I turned up at Sreekumar to see Calm at Sea. Lighter as the day goes by, next up was a French film by Finnish director Aki Kaurismaki - Le Havre. To round off the day, we learn from the one and only Alain Resnais how musicals should be made - Same Old Song. Yes, Resnais. Yes, musical. How cool? Prove that you exist!
Yossarian Lives: Civilisation has purple too...
http://onayahuasca.blogspot.com/2012/09/civilisation-has-purple-too.html
Meanwhile, I am being brainwashed by Bamse. Saturday, September 29, 2012. Civilisation has purple too. Its a good idea. But I might need to adopt a new colour. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Ayahuasca - Fresh from Peru. Yossarian - Life is insane. My life as the Bride. Scenes from a Marriage. Adventures of Chotu and Motu. From your alcohol(ic) correspondent. How else will I remember all this? Civilisation has purple too.

Notes from Anoop: March 2006
http://anoopiyer.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 31, 2006. Lately I have been taking time to do some good reading, and after a long long hiatus I return today to writing. Much obliged to BM. Today I remember Pittsburgh in blog. I have been encouraged to do so by a friend (he of the IBM persuasion. Ramesh Mahadevan is always a delight to read, isn't he? Being of IIT and CMU pedigree, his memories overlap with mine. Even though he didn't go to the same IIT as I did, his piece titled IIT Garden of Love. Could well have been written in my IIT.

Notes from Anoop: December 2007
http://anoopiyer.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 21, 2007. It would please his girlfriend whenever she visited, he supposed. And, he supposed, it would help him trim the hair that stuck out of his nose. It did. That was the first thing he did with it. What a great amount of detail it exposed. The perfectionist in him was pleased, once the job was done. Gosh, were his teeth really that yellow? And what was that between his teeth? Hmm, time to floss. Before going to bed. The whole world had gone away. His face filled the 6-inch circl...

Da Black Mamba: 11/2006
http://dablackmamba.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html
Random thoughts . on a small planet. Thursday, November 30, 2006. Rarely do I continue to love a copy. After seeing the original. But what are rules worth, if you don't break them? Dheemi Dheemi from 1947 Earth. Is among my favourite songs made in Hindi cinema. I have so been in love with the raw tenderness (and Hariharan's voice, Rahman's music, Nuttgen's camera, Nandita and Rahul's innocent romance that oozes from the screen, oh, everything). For linking to Baawra Mann. From Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi).
Da Black Mamba: April 16, 2007
http://dablackmamba.blogspot.com/2007/04/april-16-2007.html
Random thoughts . on a small planet. Thursday, April 19, 2007. April 16, 2007. This post is not about the deadliest mass shooting. In American History, the Virginia Tech Massacre. Instead this is about how we are affected by incidents like these and worse. Why some gain more importance in the media, while the others languish in the unseen corners of our psyche? Is this a bias? Or is it just that we have accepted that we are wired to be more concerned about. As a child, when I watched movies set in Europe...
Da Black Mamba: 06/2006
http://dablackmamba.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html
Random thoughts . on a small planet. Thursday, June 29, 2006. At under $150, you can buy it today. Many have compared it to the OLPC project's $100 laptop. And fairly so. Both independently try to close the digital divide. The spec for those who are interested is here. A demo at CeBIT 2006. This reminds me of the very first computer I ever used (when the number of years I had spent on this planet was still a single digit (decimal! Number). The dB Spectrum. Posted by The Black Mamba. Da Black Mamba: 08/2006
http://dablackmamba.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
Random thoughts . on a small planet. Thursday, August 24, 2006. The God of the Dead is Dead[1]. After 76 years as a planet, Pluto has been demoted. Given that it takes the "drawf planet" 248.5 earth-years to make one circle of the sun. It has only been a full planet for about one-fourth of a year - one season? Now it will be the long winter of its discontent. The god of the dead and the ruler of the underworld. 2]the Unfinished, sent before his time into this breathing world, scarce half made up. 3] Inci...
