Even when they are deep golden brown, sparkling with sugar, and emitting a glorious spicy aroma, sometimes people have to almost be talked into trying one (as actually happened at our house). On baking and the baby. Wednesday, April 28, 2010. Never look a gift horse in the mouth. Especially if said horse is one's sweet baby girl, who has happily existed sans dents. For 11 months and manages her food just fine, thanks. Not a day after my last post, a sharp little toof poked through with little distress on Stella's part. A day later, another one! Wow, this teething thing is cake, y'all. 2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour. 1 tbsp baking powder. 1 1/2 cups sugar. 1 can (10 oz.) frozen margarita mix.

On baking and the baby. Tuesday, June 29, 2010. Long time, no post. In the interest of not dying of heatstroke, I've put baking on the back burner for a while. I just haven't had the motivation to turn on the oven for anything that we can't, or more appropriately, shouldn't eat for dinner. Even then, I'd just as soon subsist on popsicles and iced tea all summer long. I'll post the recipe below, but more important things are afoot with Stella - she's walking! Adapted from Tracy Porter. 1/4 cup ice water.
