AWATERE MARLBOROUGH SAUVIGNON BLANC 2016. The fruit for this Blind River Sauvignon Blanc, as for the previous vintages, was grown on the elevated seaward side of the fertile river terrace at Weld’s Hill Vineyard in Marlborough’s Awatere Valley. This special site delivers concentrated, flavourful fruit and lower yields amplified this. Bright snow peas, oyster shell and blackcurrant aromas leads to a green-herb laced palate with juicy acidity and excellent length of flavour and freshness. Enjoy!

You'll most likely have heard of the bountiful harvest Mother Nature delivered in 2014. A combo of ideal weather conditions at key developmental periods during the growing season and that warm spring we had in 2013 (I know, no one remembers back that far) meant the perfect storm from a yield point of view. As such there was plenty of good fruit picked (ours amongst it) and there are some lovely flavoured wines.

One Block Wines - Winemaker Jo Gear. Jo started her celebrated career at Matua Valley Wines in 2001 after completing a Post-Graduate Diploma in Viticulture and Oenology at Lincoln University. Over the last decade she has won more medals and trophies than she can fit in the pool room including a couple of Champion Sparkling Wine Trophies at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards. When not scouring the country sourcing the best grapes available and making award winning wines she is mum to two girls, Issy and Emma.
