From Nothing to Something: July 2013
http://fromnothing-to-something.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 31, 2013. Its been a bloggy long time. Almost five months have passed since my last blog! Or, a limited budget? Too much reading of the SMH while it was free every day? I can blame the SMH. Part, oh holy crap! Is this my opportunity to dare to be great? Dare to be creative? Should I just coast through the next eight months until work rolls around again? Will it roll around again? If it doesn't, what other opportunities can I discover? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Inspired by mid century st...

From Nothing to Something: Demo Day is on the Horizon
http://fromnothing-to-something.blogspot.com/2013/08/demo-day-is-on-horizon.html
Thursday, August 1, 2013. Demo Day is on the Horizon. The shack is going to meet it's untimely end. Or perhaps many would consider it timely! We have engaged a demolition company to remove the shack in it's entirety, including all 200 sq metres of asbestos. There will be no working bees to get the job done. Hooray! The memories of living in the shack are fading fast. I can't believe that we lived in it for three whole years. Such. A. Long. Time. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

From Nothing to Something: April 2012
http://fromnothing-to-something.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 30, 2012. The first piece of timber went up last week. When I looked outside and saw the very first beam of the house it brought a tear to my eye. After two and a half years of trying, we had finally succeeded! There really is going to be a house there! The sense of pride and joy isn't centered on the fact that we'll have somewhere nice to live, it is entirely the result of achievement. It has taken some serious perseverance and patience to get to this point and now the fun begins. White an...

From Nothing to Something: November 2012
http://fromnothing-to-something.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 28, 2012. Transformation from Building Site to a Home. The transformation is almost complete. The build is becoming a house. We are even calling it the house now instead of 'the build'. The last week and a half has seen the painting inside finished and the floor polished. One of the most awaited features completed is the timber lining under the island bench. It looks incredible! It's time to show you the inside. Entry Stairwell - Time for shoes off. Silver stools will be the way to go.

From Nothing to Something: July 2012
http://fromnothing-to-something.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 30, 2012. Framework is on the home stretch. Over the last two weeks the house has changed a lot, but the most exciting stages happened late last week. The top floor framing went up, and over two days, the rafters went up over the living and kitchen spaces. The encasing of the space with the rafters has really made everything feel real and it is starting to sink in that this really is going to be my house. Top floor taking shape. Top floor from rear deck space. Kitchen and living room space.

From Nothing to Something: September 2012
http://fromnothing-to-something.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 24, 2012. Lily Arrives and Lock Up is Here! Our new little bundle of joy, Lily, arrived on 5 September! Her arrival did not signal a slow down on the build, if anything it seems to have sped up. Hooray! It is lucky that she is not our first baby as everyday life continued on like she had always been there. Images of our girls playing in the hallways of our new house now fill my imagination. It is a wonderful prospect and one that I can't wait to see evolve. Bay window in our room. 65279...

From Nothing to Something: August 2012
http://fromnothing-to-something.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 20, 2012. The house is really starting to take shape now. Over the last week, the ply bracing has been constructed along with all the bottom storey cladding. The best moment of the week was looking outside to see the glass doors on the front of the house going in. The doors which looked small on the ground seems as though they have doubled in size! I can't wait for the deck to start going on in another few weeks. The house is starting to gain some personality. Doors onto the back deck.

From Nothing to Something: March 2012
http://fromnothing-to-something.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 31, 2012. What are we building? The cladding will be weatherboard, focusing on lightweight construction due to the slope of the site (although this hasn't meant smaller piers! Originally we decided on vertical weathertex panelling, but of course, I have since changed my mind and we're going to use horizontal boards, with maybe a modern take on fibro on the lower storey and bay windows sections. The posts shown across the front of the house will now be partially retaining wall. Inspired by...
