The Kennedy Family in Germany. Another German holiday gave us the chance to leave the country! We went next door to Belgium for the Ascension Day holiday week-end. You might be thinking, wow, they travel a lot. We do! After a while I realized most everyone spoke English. We started off the day with a River cruise. What a great spot for a nap! We also stopped in this church to light a candle in honor of Mark's mother! It was so much fun stumbling upon this amazing parade. This parade displayed all the...

The Kennedy Family in Germany. We had a exciting Spring Break filled with family visitors and some time to explore some more! My sister and her family came to spend their Spring Break with us and to see where we live. We decided to meet in Bavaria and make our way back to Dusseldorf. On our way to meet the Wynsma's in Munich, we stopped half way in the German town of Heidelberg. Heidelberg Castle high on the hill behind Vivian and Jack. The Old Bridge in Heidelberg. We went to see Salzburg, Austria.

The Kennedy Family in Germany. International Summer Fair at St. Georges School. The rain held off for the annual Summer Fair at school. Brats and beer available at this school party which was held on the school playground. Quite an unlikely scenario for our schools at home! Jack had fun playing this Indian game! Fathers Day in the Black Forest. Mark and his kiddos on Father's Day at Germany's largest waterfall. Black Forest Cake - we tried it, but it is NOT our favorite dessert. The James Bond Theme.

The Kennedy Family in Germany. I was super lucky to go on a class field trip with each of my kids this week. First, Jack and I went to the Chocolate Museum in Cologne on Wednesday. We started by taking a double decker coach bus. That was fun! We liked riding on top. The museum was right on the Rhine in Cologne. It was a nice location! It was a true chocolate factory. Here is the robot arm transferring the chocolate. The best part was tasting free samples! This is Vivian and her friends, Leonie and Alex.

The Kennedy Family in Germany. London - Fall Break 2012. It was fun to go to London because Vivian and Jack attend a British school in Germany and they feel like they experience British culture everyday. It's fun when they speak with their fun British accents too! The London Eye (Ferris Wheel). I think one of the kids favorite things this week was riding the underground and figuring out the way. Changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace. No, we did not see the Queen, she wasn't home. The Tower of London.

The Kennedy Family in Germany. It was Valentine's Day while we were there. So there were many roses for sale on La Rambla. The Market entrance on La Rambla. The markets are bountiful! La Rambla - the main street that heads to the port. The hot chocolate was amazing! It was so rich and thick that you almost needed a spoon to drink (eat) it. We took a Fat Tire Bike Tour thru Barcelona. Our favorite way to see the sights. Arc de Triomf - not to be confused with the one in Paris! A little cold for a swim,.

We were happy we saw it because it helped us better understand our D-day tour. Pont du Hoc - cliff the soldiers climbed during the D-day invasion. Pont du Hoc Memorial. Jack running through a crater which was caused by a bomb. Bunker at Pont du Hoc. Memorial at Omaha Beach. This is the French Manoir that we stayed at while we visited No...

The Kennedy Family in Germany. Then, on Saturday, our family took a drive to another castle near Mark's work called Schloss Burg on the Wupper. Mark showed us where he works in Burscheid which was on our way to the castle. Just inside the castle where you can see the lights on in the above picture, there is a chapel and a big banquet hall. They were setting up for a wedding reception inside the hall. What a beautiful place for a wedding reception or party! The town of Unterburg below. The building on the...

The Kennedy Family in Germany: Father's Day in the Black Forest
http://kennedyfamilyingermany.blogspot.com/2013/06/father-day-in-black-forest.html
The Kennedy Family in Germany. Fathers Day in the Black Forest. Once again, not our typical Father's Day. Usually we head to church and then Silver Lake to celebrate Father's Day with my Dad. (Happy Father's Day, Dad - can't wait to see you soon! So, with only a few weeks to go until we head home, we decided to zip down to the Black Forest. It's hard to believe we live only four hours from the Black Forest and haven't been there yet. The forest is beautiful! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
