Just another WordPress.com site. Newer posts →. And we’re off. May 23, 2014. Pop dropped us off at the airport in Augusta, and upon check in we heard the dreaded words “maintenance delay”. We press on and continued through security, where Mom was given a special orange ticket (why? First time for both of us. Neither of us slept well on the plane (too cold, and children kicking seat backs), but we powered on and made it to Marseille. June 11, 2011. There was an intermittent slight breeze and the bluest sk...
Final Friday and Farewell | ouritalianholiday

Just another WordPress.com site. Final Friday and Farewell. May 30, 2014. We’ve been economizing all week by eating lunches out and dinners in, but we made a reservation at a nice restaurant for our final dinner. After lunch, we sunned by the pool again and read for a while. Then it was time to shower and dress for the big dinner. More like big mistake! Mom’s after dinner face says it best. Tomorrow we leave for the airport at 7am and hope to be home by 9pm if all goes as planned. We bid adieu to our...

Just another WordPress.com site. To Market, To Market →. May 27, 2014. No Were we in danger? Not visibly. We had to Google when we got home- the device had been programmed by a previous renter to alert him to restaurants and concert halls. Go figure. Our overall impression of Cassis is that it is a pristine town. It gives the feeling that certain things just aren’t tolerated. No trash on the street, no cursing, that sort of thing. As we walked along the streets browsing boutiques, we ca...To finish off t...
A Perfect Ending | ouritalianholiday

Just another WordPress.com site. And we’re off →. June 11, 2011. There was an intermittent slight breeze and the bluest sky of the week. We got some good sun, and then headed down to dress for our “final dinner”. We had scoped out a few options ahead of time and decided on Stella Polare–a spot close to the apartment with a diverse menu. On top of the fact that we enjoyed the best food we’d had all week, we had some wonderful “table buddies” (they seat you very close to one another! Enter your comment here.
Marseille by Tuk-Tuk | ouritalianholiday

Just another WordPress.com site. And we’re off. Fish Heads and Papa’s Beard →. May 24, 2014. Marseille is a gritty and busy city. It has a reputation for being “unsafe,” but we didn’t feel it. Everyone we encountered was smiling and helpful, including Nicolas, our tour guide for the morning. Nicolas seemed to know everyone in town, pedestrians and fellow motorists all honking and waving at every turn. He had a fan club. Here he is with mom just after the tour was over. And we’re off. One response to &ldq...

Our Italian Dream
Friday, August 14, 2015. Naples - a great city worth a visit. Naples is an amazing city. Not to be missed. We travelled to Naples in Summer so it was hot. But we always felt safe and thoroughly enjoyed the diversity the city has to offer. With almost 4 million inhabitants it is one of the largest cities in Europe and indeed one of the oldest continual inhabited cities dating back to 200BC. It has a flourishing port with many international cruise liners docking in the port. Links to this post. Beach volle...

Tuesday, October 11, 2011. Summer Living Room in the basement. Finally it is finished! Then we hung the mirrors and the picture and spent the rest of the evening admiring our handiwork. On Wednesday we took a day off and went to the beach. We had beautiful weather, around 28°C (80-85°F). Then we went to Orsogna to buy supply of wine for return trip. After all, we had an empty van for return! Thursday we worked all day in the garden and cleaned, ready to close the house till next spring! View to the door.
