Us, our dear friends, and my mom and dad (and their friends) all headed to Santa Rosa Beach for the Hampton/Cecil wedding in October. It was a good time to go - the weather was gorgeous, it wasn't crowded at all.but there were some crazy biting flies on the beach that hurt like the dickens, and unfortunately, our resort pooling was freezing cold. A few of my South African friends have been introducing me to all kinds of treats, and melktert is now one of my favorite desserts! I have been playing around with the recipe (and sharing test samples with my SA friends) over the past year, and finally got it right.
