Makey-Cakey: Introducing the Anti-Cheesecake
http://makey-cakey.blogspot.com/2013/08/introducing-anti-cheesecake.html
Thursday, 8 August 2013. I'm not sure that's really a very flattering name for what is a really tasty dessert, however it is how I misheard Mr E describe it, and it's stuck in my head. It is in fact a dairy free baked cheesecake, that really honestly tastes like baked cheesecake. But without the cheese, and with a date and almond base, and not too much added sugar. There is a base under there, I promise! I clearly took my own 'blend well' instruction with a pinch of salt! 40g skin on almonds. 1 tsp runny...

http://makey-cakey.blogspot.com/2015/03/daring-bakers-march-2015-challenge.html
Friday, 27 March 2015. Daring Bakers' March 2015 Challenge: Tarte Tatin. I'm on time with this blog post (or at least in the correct 24hr time period, once time zones etc are considered). Yep, it's the 27th so it's the posting day for the Daring Bakers' March. For the March Daring bakers' challenge, Korena from Korena in the Kitchen. Taught us that some treats are best enjoyed upside down. She challenged us to make a tarte tatin from scratch. Sigh of relief - still in one piece and ready to serve. 60g co...

Makey-Cakey: Biszkopt z Galaretka - or Polish Jelly Cake
http://makey-cakey.blogspot.com/2009/06/biszkopt-z-galaretka-or-polish-jelly.html
Tuesday, 2 June 2009. Biszkopt z Galaretka - or Polish Jelly Cake. Well at my current workplace, cake also plays an important part in the weekly schedule, with everyone taking their turn to provide 'Monday Cakes'. And 1st June was my turn. In honour of the gorgeous summery weather (and the fact that strawberries were on special offer at ASDA) I decided to recreate the jelly cake, of the strawberry no-cream variety. 3 June 2009 at 15:50. What recipe did you use for the fat free sponge? 3 June 2009 at 17:56.

Makey-Cakey: Cakes for a good cause
http://makey-cakey.blogspot.com/2015/03/cakes-for-good-cause.html
Saturday, 28 March 2015. Cakes for a good cause. Since my hot date tonight is of the water bottle and lemsip variety, I thought I'd use the opportunity to post a roundup of the cakes I've made so far since volunteering with Free Cakes for Kids. They are a community based charity which provides free birthday cakes, baked and decorated by volunteers, to children and families that would otherwise be unlikely to have one. Not a birthday but a good luck cake for a work placement abroad. And getting in touch.

To explain briefly, I need to skip back in time to July 2010, in which Mini-M, the little chaos pixie. Was dragged kicking and screa...

http://makey-cakey.blogspot.com/2010/04/jonos-great-butterbeer-experiment-part.html
Friday, 16 April 2010. Jono's Great Butterbeer Experiment - Part 1. Hey folks, here's a post written by my culinarily. Other half. enjoy! Experiment started when Ruth and I watched Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. On emerging from The Three Broomsticks Hermione appeared slightly drunk - this got us thinking about the properties of Butterbeer. Wasn't it supposed to be non-alcoholic? According to the Wikipedia. Was a real life drink before J. K. Rowling created the Potterverse. Recipe suggests 2/3 o...

Makey-Cakey: Peace & Love Sandwiches
http://makey-cakey.blogspot.com/2011/03/peace-love-sandwiches.html
Monday, 28 March 2011. Peace and Love Sandwiches. I'm also a bit scared by a lot of the raw vegan food out there - particularly those recipes that call for a dehydrator. But every so often I find recipes which tickle my fancy, like this one for raw carrot and walnut pesto on Veggie num num. A fab source for vegetarian recipes of all kinds. Since I'm completely unable to follow a recipe to the letter, despite my good intentions, I made a few tweaks - here's my version. Raw Carrot and Walnut Pesto. Breakfa...

http://makey-cakey.blogspot.com/2012/04/eat-your-heart-our-mr-kipling-homemade.html
Friday, 20 April 2012. Eat your heart our Mr Kipling! Fondant fancies are one of those cakes that I always wanted growing up as a kid, and when we did get them, usually as a treat or when we were visiting people, even then they always used to disappoint, but being, well, kind of fluffy and not really tasting of anything apart form sweet. I have solved that problem now! This is the raspberry version. So on to the recipe. X"g butter or margarine. X"g self raising flour. Preheat the oven to 180C (160C fan)&...

Saturday, 16 July 2011. C&D's Wedding Cake: Fruitcake with Orange Marzipan, Royal Icing and Chocolate Roses. Furiously back posting at the moment to try to get caught up with the photo queue waiting in iPhoto. So, back in May (shockingly long ago, I know) I posted the bottom tier of C&D's wedding cake. Now I'm posting the top - be warned - it is a LONG post but with lots of pictures! And hopefully the middle will follow in the not too distant future (before their 1st wedding anniversary at least! Grated ...
