Just Jomtien: January 2015
http://justjomtien.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Monday, 5 January 2015. Leo Beer and Spicy Somtam on Jomtien Beach. Not everyone will agree, but of the three main brands Leo. Is probably the tastiest beer in Thailand. Sold by the Jomtien beach vendors. Some places sell Tiger and/or Corona but these are few and far between. The newest up and coming beer is Chang Export. Which has all the taste of Chang Classic. One thing we can all agree on though is visitors to the beach who know how to enjoy a Thai Somtam. Friday, 2 January 2015. Simple template....

See & Do. The French Quarter: Come for the architecture, stay for the atmosphere! If you wanted to see some wonderful French architecture you would probably think of visiting France, but, this isn’t what I would recommend! The oldest neighbourhood in New Orleans. Since the 1920s these historic buildings have been protected so they cannot be demolished or altered, and this is great for us and generations to come because we can still enjoy this striking architecture and the cultures it represents. Many tou...

Auschwitz: A reminder of humanity's horrors
http://world-traveller.me/auschwitz-a-reminder-of-humanitys-horrors
See & Do. Auschwitz: A reminder of humanity’s horrors. Auschwitz is a stark contrast to beautiful Krakow, its closest major tourism city. A network of concentration, labour and extermination camps operated in Poland by Nazi forces during the Second World War, a visit to Auschwitz plays a huge role in ensuring that the atrocities committed there, as well as in other camps, are never forgotten. The outside of the buildings are unremarkable in themselves, and give nothing away about the history behind them&...

Midsummer Festival - Scandinavia's longest party night
http://world-traveller.me/midsummer-festival-scandinavias-longest-party-night
See & Do. Midsummer Festival: Scandinavia’s longest party night. Since the 1950s, the midsummer festival takes place on a more convenient date for the working population, on a Friday between 19th and 25th June. There are many myths, traditions and of course, superstitions surrounding the midsummer festival. What most modern Swedes do today though, is to head out into the country and rent holiday apartments with friends and families, or have a large garden party. Midsummer is a great time to explore t...

Pompeii: The city that waited
http://world-traveller.me/pompeii-the-city-that-waited
See & Do. Pompeii: The city that waited. If you are a fan of ancient Roman ruins, Pompeii is a site like no other. Preserved so well after the violent volcanic eruption from nearby Mount Vesuvius covered the entire city in more than 50 feet of ash, the city escaped the usual ravages that 1,500 years would deliver. Anyway, it was the temples that drew my attention. They were in pretty poor shape but most had their stairs, foundations and some columns standing to mark their place. As I learned duri...The l...
