Friday, January 4, 2008. I Should Write A Book. I was teaching a new student his first guitar lesson, scrambling to write down all of the ideas I've used for years. I looked at his father and said, "I should write a book with these things in it, it would save me a lot of aggravation! During the extended holiday break this year, I started to do just that - write a book! My plan is to self-publish it on a website for public domain use, but print copies will be available! Friday, January 4, 2008. Should Beginning Guitar Players Learn To Read Music? Eventually, a fine guitarist must develop the skill to read and interpret standard musical notation. I know, that's no fun! Trying to read notes can totally frustrate the beginner who just wants to play guitar! With that said, in my opinion, the timing has to be right for the novice guitarist to learn to read music. That time is not at the beginning! Conquering the basic physical skills. Are much more important at the start.
