Beginner's Photo Journal. Panoramas with the Sony NEX. One of the really cool in-camera features of the Sony NEX camera is the sweep panorama mode. Just hit the shutter button and move your camera from left to right. It’s so simple and fast and requires no post-processing on your computer – very cool. Beginner's Photo Journal. Panoramas are great for landscape photography. Panoramic photographs are fun and pretty easy to do. I created the panorama above of the Colosseum in Rome using four photographs taken from my girlfriend’s Canon Powershot SD790 IS and Autostitch. Other free alternatives are available. Hugin. Is a free stitching program that works with Windows, Mac, and Linux. It appears to be a bit more sophisticated and has a steeper learning curve than Autostitch. CleVR. Date : December 20, 2009.

Beginner's Photo Journal. Flickr Needs a Makeover. I really like Flickr. But I feel the site has become somewhat dated. There’s so much amazing content on Flickr, but the interface is so clunky. Scrolling through pages of small thumbnails is archaic. I’ve tried Cooliris. To be fair, it’s not just Flickr that needs a makeover; Picasa, Smugmug, Lightroom, etc. can all improve their interfaces. My friend at Douzen. Flickr designer, Timoni West, recently posted a nice critique of Flickr’s user interface.

I really love how online education is growing, especially high quality free education. I’ve always been a big fan of the Khan Academy. I hope this trend continues. The cost of education can’t continue to increase indefinitely (see chart below from Business Insider) – no one will be able to afford an education. Hopefully, social media will change this. Beginner's Photo Journal. I used to have a Canon Powershot G10. Which I purchased via the Canon Loyalty Upgrade Program but sold it. I used to also have a Canon XSi. But sold it as well. I currently own a Sony NEX-3. Prior to buying the Canon XSi, I didn’t own a camera. I would just borrow my girlfriend’s (now wife) Canon Powershot SD790 IS. And her Apple iPhone. To take photos. I upgraded my wife to a Canon Powershot S95. I also borrowed a friend’s Canon EOS 10D. Digital SLR for a trip I took to Europe.
