Rwanda: Primary 1 class
http://emmarwanda.blogspot.com/2009/09/primary-1-class.html
Thursday, 3 September 2009. This picture shows you the P1 class that I was teaching yesterday. They wrote some letters to the children I teach in York.though their English is not brilliant so they needed quite a lot of help. They were quite excited about it all though so where their English was lacking, they made up for it with enthusiasm! They also very much enjoyed having their individual pictures taken so that I can take them home to Headlands School. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Rwanda: King of the Guinea Pigs
http://emmarwanda.blogspot.com/2009/09/king-of-guinea-pigs.html
Friday, 4 September 2009. King of the Guinea Pigs. Kashia (the little white girl whose Mother is a gorilla vet) said to me the other day, "All the children say you are the King of the Guinea Pigs! I said, "Do they? Why is that then? She looked thoughtful for a minute and then said, "Because your hair is like a guinea pig's." I wasn't sure whether to be flattered or not! However, I do know for a fact that the Rwandan children haven't got a clue what a guinea pig is. They have never even seen one! She is a...

Rwanda: The pastor returns!!!
http://emmarwanda.blogspot.com/2009/09/pastor-returns.html
Thursday, 3 September 2009. Pastor Boris just paid me another visit! I have to say this time though, that I got off lightly.he only stayed about 40mins! Well, I have sort of got to the bottom of all his visits.to be honest I don't think they were purely to check up on my health! But I did promise him that I'd ask around! At the end of the conversation Pastor Boris dived into a prayer in French.and the only way I knew was that he shut his eyes! 3 September 2009 at 20:28. Enjoy your last week and take care.

Rwanda: I'm home!!
http://emmarwanda.blogspot.com/2009/09/im-home.html
Sunday, 13 September 2009. I finally made it to Manchester, only to wait about 45mins for my case to plop onto the conveyor belt. By this time I had decided it had probably got left in Nairobi after the handwritten label had smudged or fallen off after leaving Rwanda! Actually I think I was at Dubai airport so much earlier than any other passenger that my case was the first onto the plane and therefore the last off! And my first jacket potato in a month! 14 September 2009 at 18:32. We have managed to spe...

Rwanda: June 2007
http://emmarwanda.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html
Friday, 22 June 2007. There was some exciting news that I forgot to tell you! Last week we took a trip to visit a friend of Pam's, a muzungu called Kay-Ellen.or K-Ellen (we're not entirely sure how its spelt! Anyway, the amazing thing is where she lives - in Ros Carr's house! In the afternoon Pam, Tracy and I went for a walk out of the grounds and ended up collecting a whole bunch of children as we walked back.the pied piper effect which we so often seem to have! To come and speak to a group of people (W...

Sunday, 27 May 2007. Grasshoppers and corned beef hash. It is a difficult flavour to describe…though the same cannot be said for the corned beef hash, which is a very easy flavour to describe in just three words – like dog food! I think the main problem is the fact that once you have mashed the corned beef into the potato, the consistency and the appearance is remarkably close to that of dog food as well as the taste…it doesn’t stand a chance really! Give me a fried grasshopper any day. Then I went for s...
