Welcome to the Rex Thompson Memorial Building! But who is Rex Thompson anyway? Rex was really named Melvin Herbert Thompson. We don't know when he started using Rex, but we can guess why. His second wife was Clara, and they had twin sons named Don and Ron. He was the owner of the theatre on Bay Street, and named it "D and R" after the boys, when they went to put up a neon sign. I think they charged by the letter, because the old name was the New Community Theater. He died in Arizona in 1969.
