Large Spanish Horse in progress. Horse Gavilan De Frente. This photo was given to me for reference by Josee Talbot. Close up of eye. Spent all day painting in the background, only managed to get some of the face underpainted. This is a huge painting of a magnificent Grey horse. Yet another whole day but still just underpainting, trying to get the hair direction and the light and shade working smoothly, this will blend smoother once I get some pencils in there. Then laid in some basic colour. Got so frust...

This was sketched in graphite, then the background laid in with acrylic using a drying retarder to achieve the blended effect. Photography tips: How to get a good photograph for your portrait. The basis of a good pet portrait is a good photograph. Below are some simple tips for taking a qualtity picture. Set your digital camera to high quality image (300 dpi). Photograph outdoors if possible, in good light conditions, without flash. A clear day is much better than strong sunlight. If you can’t get outside, try to position the pet near a window for as much natural daylight as possible, but not in direct sunlight. 42cm x 29.7cm.
