Mylissa's Nemeton: Excessive force?
http://mylissa-nemeton.blogspot.com/2009/01/excessive-force.html
Thoughts, musings and other such profundities. Wednesday, January 28, 2009. More than 1,300 Palestinians have been killed since Israel began its land, sea and air operations against Hamas militants on 27 December, including 400 children. Fourteen Israelis have died. This statistic in various Gaza/Israel stories on the BBC news website. For humanitarian relief in Gaza by the Disasters Emergency Committee. Mylissa's Nemeton: Buddy the cat
http://mylissa-nemeton.blogspot.com/2011/02/buddy-cat.html
Thoughts, musings and other such profundities. Saturday, February 26, 2011. Introducing Buddy, our wonderful cat! Buddy is very lovely, if a little prone to mistaking hands/ankles/fingers/feet for prey! But he does try to apologise by leaving us regular gifts of headless mice at the bottom of the stairs. And once he even tried painting us a picture using paws, floor tiles and vole-blood. We were very impressed by his creativity. We're lucky to have such an intelligent cat. Can't live without me?

Goosing the Antithesis: Killing Babies With Science
http://goosetheantithesis.blogspot.com/2008/10/killing-babies-with-science.html
We promote rational individualism, and are opposed to those who assert incoherent supernatural claims. Monday, October 27, 2008. Killing Babies With Science. This cell is a human being. Or maybe it isn't. Only Paul Manata and his invisible friend know for sure. Oh, Paul. I wish I knew how to quit you. Like his namesake, Paul Manata continues. As does his faithful reader, Craig Sowder, who posted this. Maybe I'm not understanding what you mean when you say it's easy to prove it scientifically. I can use a...

Goosing the Antithesis: Shut The Vote Up
http://goosetheantithesis.blogspot.com/2008/11/shut-vote-up.html
We promote rational individualism, and are opposed to those who assert incoherent supernatural claims. Tuesday, November 04, 2008. Shut The Vote Up. Diddy wants you to vote or die, but I want you to watch the full video. If you don't vote, then . Shut. Up.". That was the sentiment plastered yesterday on Greg Laden's blog, along with a (mildly amusing) celebrity "vote or die" video. No, I don't believe I will shut up. The lack of a candidate I would want to vote for doesn't preclude my right to criticize.

Goosing the Antithesis: Rationalizing Biblical Atrocities: Blame the Victim
http://goosetheantithesis.blogspot.com/2007/06/rationalizing-biblical-atrocities-blame.html
We promote rational individualism, and are opposed to those who assert incoherent supernatural claims. Tuesday, June 12, 2007. Rationalizing Biblical Atrocities: Blame the Victim. The genocide of the Midianites and sexual captivity of their young girls (Numbers 31). The genocide of the people of Jericho and slaughter of all their livestock (Deuteronomy 6). The genocide of the Amalekites and slaughter of all their livestock (1 Samuel 15). What happens next, however, is a series of predictable rationalizat...

Mylissa's Nemeton: This little piggy went to market…
http://mylissa-nemeton.blogspot.com/2009/01/this-little-piggy-went-to-market.html
Thoughts, musings and other such profundities. Friday, January 16, 2009. This little piggy went to market…. Those of you who know me probably already know my views on pigs. Intelligent creatures for the most part (both my friends and the pigs. No, my friends are not pigs), pigs are also pretty cute. Well, piglets anyway. Jon Henley 'Welfare doesn’t come into it'. Jamie Oliver is starting a campaign. Ideally, of course we’d all raise our own animals like Alex Renton. Or stop eating meat. Very informative ...

Mylissa's Nemeton: Cotton Wool Culture
http://mylissa-nemeton.blogspot.com/2009/02/cotton-wool-culture.html
Thoughts, musings and other such profundities. Sunday, February 08, 2009. My father sent me an email this week (see below) that poked fun at not just modern parenting, but today's litigious society. When I came across this story on the BBC. I couldn't resist a post. Have a look at this picture (from the BBC website). What would you do? Would you stop the boy from sawing? Or would you let him carry on, knowing that he'd learn his lesson and probably only bang his knee? I'd let him fall. You might want to ...

Mylissa's Nemeton: Basingstoke is Beautiful
http://mylissa-nemeton.blogspot.com/2012/04/basingstoke-is-beautiful.html
Thoughts, musings and other such profundities. Tuesday, April 03, 2012. If you can ignore the faintly misogynistic overtones and occasional poor taste in humour, then The Daily Basingstoke. Is a good, light-hearted news update for all the goings on around town. I particularly like the photos of 'Beautiful Basingstoke'. About a year ago I decided that Basingstoke needs a 'Basingstoke is Beautiful' campaign to counter those cruel 'Basingrad' taunts, so here it is: the launch of Basingstoke is Beautiful.
